Kelsea Ballerini gave a shout-out to her antidepressant medication in her latest life update.

The “Cowboys Cry Too” singer, 32, took to Instagram on Tuesday, October 28, to share a photo dump that included a snap of her dog, Dibs, snaps of pumpkins being painted on a porch and Ballerini hugging Kenny Chesney at a concert.

“Brought to you by hot dogs, porch painting, bed by 9pm, friendship, parks, Kenny Chesney and lexapro ❤️,” she captioned the post.

Lexapro is a prescription selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Fans praised Ballerini for her honesty in the comments.

“Love the shout-out to mental health care!! So great to see someone say it without the stigma. 🤍,” one user wrote, while many others joked, “Live, laugh, lexapro.”

“Proud of you for taking care of YOU & dibby at the same time,” another fan commented, referring to Dibs’ ongoing battle with cancer. “That’s two things that need a lot of love right now.🤍 lexapro is for the anxiety pros.🫶🏼🤍 love you!!”

While Ballerini has not specifically spoken out about a diagnosis of depression or anxiety, she has opened up about attending therapy for years to work through mental health struggles, including an eating disorder and PTSD from a school shooting that killed a classmate when she was a teenager.

“It’s been a game changer,” she told People of therapy in April. “There is still a stigma around talking about certain things, and the way that you take that stigma away is you create conversation.”

In an October 2024 interview with Women’s Health, Ballerni revealed that she first went to court-mandated therapy as a preteen during her parents’ divorce.

“I was young, and I was sad and confused, and I didn’t want to talk to a stranger that someone else was making me talk to,” she explained. “Being a Virgo, being very strong-willed, especially when it comes to things that are tender, like mental health, I need to feel like it’s my decision.”

When she was 24, Ballerini decided to take her mental health into her own hands.

“I’d been on the road for four years, and I was exhausted. I was married [to ex-husband Morgan Evans], and I was looking around at all my friends who have 9-to-5 jobs and still live in my hometown, and I was realizing I felt really removed, really different,” she recalled. “I was starting to have questions like, ‘What is driving me? Is missing Mom’s birthday worth it? Am I OK? And am I happy?’ I couldn’t answer these fundamental questions I should have been able to answer, so I got back into therapy, by my choice, and fell in love with it.”

Ballerini’s Lexapro shout-out comes one month after her split from Chase Stokes, whom she began dating in 2023. A rep for the country singer confirmed the breakup to Us Weekly on September 14, just two days after Stokes, 33, gave Ballerini a shout-out on Instagram for her birthday.

“Although you keep saying you’re not excited for 32, I’d say I’m lookin’ forward to more of this,” he wrote at the time. “Happy birthday, my love.”

A source later exclusively told Us that Ballerini had “initiated” the split after the pair had “been arguing a lot recently.”

“Their communication wasn’t great in the last month. They were both traveling so much and trying to juggle everything, and the arguments piled up,” the insider said, noting that Ballerini and Stokes acted like “mature adults and had the same understanding that they needed space.”

“There is still a lot of love between them,” the source added.
