Kia India on Monday launched the CarensClavis EV, its first electric vehicle manufactured in India, at a starting price of Rs 17.99 lakh. Positioned as the India's first electric Recreational Vehicle (RV), the CarensClavis EV marks Kia’s next phase of electric mobility in the Indian market.
The CarensClavis EV will be offered in four variants — HTK Plus, HTX, ER HTX, and ER HTX Plus — with two battery pack options: a 42kWh unit offering a certified range of 404 km (MIDC) and a larger 51.4kWh battery with a range of 490 km. Powertrain options include 99kW and 126kW motors with 255Nm torque. Kia claims 0–100 kmph acceleration in 8.4 seconds for the higher-spec variant.
Fast charging capabilities are also part of the offering, with Kia stating the EV can be charged from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. The vehicle includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality and thermal management features such as a liquid-cooled battery pack tested for Indian driving and climate conditions. The battery is also IP67-rated for dust and water resistance.
Inside, the CarensClavis features a dual-screen setup combining a 26.62-inch digital cluster and infotainment unit, a Bose 8-speaker system, ambient lighting, ventilated seats, and Kia’s signature ‘Boss Mode’ for rear passenger comfort. Second-row electric tumble seats and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof are included on higher trims.
For safety, the CarensClavis comes equipped with ADAS Level 2 features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (including cyclist and pedestrian detection), Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Blind Spot Collision Warning. Standard safety features across the range include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist, all-wheel disc brakes, and rear occupant alerts.
Kia has also packed in several connected features with 90 functions enabled through its Kia Connect suite, including scheduled charging, charge status alerts, and route planning based on live charger availability. The EV also includes a virtual engine sound system (VESS) to enhance pedestrian safety.
The car is available in six colour options, including a new Matte Ivory Silver finish. Ground clearance is rated at 200mm, and a 25-litre frunk adds to usable storage space.
To support its EV portfolio, Kia claims it has developed a network of over 11,000 charging points across India, 100+ DC fast-charging-enabled dealerships, and more than 250 EV-ready service workshops. Additionally, buyers will have access to ownership services like pre-emptive maintenance alerts, video consultations, and bundled service packages through Kia’s ‘My Convenience e-Plus’ program.
The CarensClavis EV launch signals Kia’s growing focus on localised electric mobility solutions tailored to Indian conditions.
