Filmmaker Anurag Basu’s star-studded hyperlink romance film, Metro...In Dino, has earned₹16.75 crore in India in the first three days of its release. These figures are impressive considering the film has faced stiff competition with Indian titles such as Kannappa, Maa, and Sitaare Zameen Par, and Hollywood titles such as Jurassic World: Rebirth, F1, and How to Train Your Dragon.

According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹3.5 crore on its opening day, ₹6 crore on Saturday, and ₹7.25 crore on Sunday. A report by the tracking website added that the film saw 39.75 per cent occupancy on Sunday, with Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad regions registering the highest occupancy figures.

The film, which was released on July 4, features a star-studded cast that includes Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal and Fatima Ali Sheikh.

Metro...In Dino follows stories of love, longing, infidelity, and morality in urban cities. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Metro… In Dino completes Basu’s trilogy of interconnected stories, following Life in a… Metro and Ludo.

The Hindu review of the film said, “In hyperlink films, establishing the character quickly is crucial, making the choice of actors all the more important. Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara make the lust/ lost confusion of today’s generation relatable. Both convey the psychological cracks and social awkwardness beneath that veneer of cocky confidence. It is the spark between them that ignites the mainstream engine.

“Then, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Ali Fazal press the gears to decide between career and family. While Ali seems to have been cast to fulfill the unrealised ambition of his character in 3 Idiots, the underrated Fatima excels in a complex role, with her Shruti reminding me of her performance in Modern Love Mumbai.”
