Nina Dobrev and Shaun White were seen together less than two weeks before news broke that they called off their engagement.

Dobrev, 36, and White, 39, were spotted holding hands while shopping at a Los Angeles farmers market on August 31. The pair went incognito, wearing matching white baseball caps and oversized sunglasses.

Dobrev, for her part, sported a red minidress, while the Olympic snowboarder opted for a loose-fitting, cream button-down and olive trousers.

Us Weekly confirmed on Thursday, September 11, that the Vampire Diaries alum and White have split. Neither Dobrev nor White have returned Us’ request for comment.

Dobrev and White started dating in 2020, getting engaged four years later.

“I went into shock. I just froze and stared at him,” she recalled to Vogue in October 2024, revealing that she blacked out. “He said all the right things. … Eventually we realized — other than the caviar [Shaun set out] — we hadn’t eaten anything. So, we ordered Shake Shack and dumplings [from] the Golden Swan.”

Years before White popped the question, he felt seriously about his romance with Dobrev.

“That was actually how we kind of started our relationship,” White exclusively told Us in January 2022, referring to his last-minute trip visiting Dobrev in South Africa when she filmed Redeeming Love. “I was like, ‘All right. Yeah. OK.’ And she [thought], ‘Oh, this guy, he came to play. He’s serious.’ So that’s a thing that we share together. We both enjoy traveling.”

White further teased to Us how much he and Dobrev had in common.

“I wish I could sum it up into one or two things,” he said at the time. “It’s such a mix of everything. Like our dogs get along, you know? We have common interests. The way in which we met really kind of strengthened our relationship. And the problems that we do face, they kind of fall away through communication.”

White was also grateful to have Dobrev in his corner for his final Olympic Games, telling Us that she was “so incredibly supportive.”

“She’s like, ‘Hey, I’m here to help you … how do I help you?’ It’s not about her,” White said. “She’s just been so giving in that sense. She wants to elevate the people around her. It’s such a beautiful thing, especially in today’s world. … To have that kind of a caring quality is really special.”

White retired after the 2022 Olympics, which Dobrev marked with a blowout party.
