Princess Charlotte Wore Subtle Tribute to Late Queen at Trooping the Colour

Princess Charlotte sweetly paid homage to her late great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth III during her family’s 2025 Trooping the Colour celebration.

Charlotte, 10, wore a short-sleeved teal dress with white trim to the Saturday, June 14, parade and military flypast, held in honor of her grandfather King Charles III. She accessorized her look with white Mary-Jane flats and delicate silver jewelry. A small, pearl-adorned brooch in the shape of a horseshoe had been pinned to her lapel.

Charlotte previously wore the bauble to Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022 after the regent’s death at 96. It was reported at the time that the late queen gifted Charlotte the accessory in honor of their shared passion for horseback riding. Charlotte’s mother, Princess Kate Middleton, previously boasted about her daughter’s interest in the sport during a 2018 outing.

“I asked her how the children were, and she said Charlotte is really enjoying her riding, which is great to hear,” Paralympian Natasha Baker recalled of her conversation with the Princess of Wales, 43. “She emphasized that Charlotte has this passion for horses and although she doesn’t echo it, she’ll do her best to champion and encourage it.”

Trooping the Colour is held each June in honor of the monarch’s birthday. The current regent, 76-year-old Charles rode in a carriage alongside wife Queen Camilla on Saturday, with Kate and her three children — Charlotte and sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 7 — following behind. Kate’s husband, Prince William, joined the procession on horseback alongside his aunt Princess Anne.

While William, 42, and his paternal relatives all wore their military uniforms, Kate opted for a turquoise dress and matching fascinator. Her sons, for their part, sported navy suits with red ties.

After the parade, the royals reconvened on the famed Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the military flypast.

“Another brilliant day at Trooping the Colour for His Majesty’s Birthday Parade,” William and Kate captioned a joint Instagram post later on Saturday. “Thank you to everybody who came, and to all those who took part.”
