Saoirse Ronan and her husband, Jack Lowden, are officially parents following the arrival of their first baby.
Ronan, 31, and Lowden, 35, were recently spotted pushing a baby carriage while on a stroll in London earlier this month, according to photos published by The Sun on Thursday, September 11. The twosome were all smiles as they walked arm in arm and peeked into the stroller to check on their little one, who’s name has not been publicly revealed.
Us Weekly has reached out to the couple’s reps for comment.
News of the Lady Bird star’s pregnancy broke in May when she was spotted with what appeared to be a baby bump during a walk in London. In photos obtained by the Daily Mail at the time, Ronan wore a black bodysuit with a puffer jacket and a baseball cap, while Lowden sported an Adidas hoodie and black sweatpants. The Irish Independent also confirmed the pregnancy via a source.
Ronan and Lowden struck up a romance in 2018 after starring in Mary Queen of Scots together.
“It was remarkable working with Saoirse,” he said during an AOL panel promoting the film. “The woman is a force of nature on and off-screen, and utterly fearless and a brilliant leader as well. For being 24 years old, it’s just constantly amazing to me, not just her work, but how she is on a set is amazing.”
In keeping with their preference for a low-profile romance, Ronan and Lowden secretly tied the knot in Scotland in July 2024.
“I got married. I’m 30 now. I’m old,” she joked during a November 2024 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I’ve been desperate for myself and my husband, Jack, to do a cheesy karaoke duet. It’s ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born. I want him to be my Bradley [Cooper], and I’ll be his [Lady] Gaga. And he won’t do it. He hasn’t committed. And I’m sort of like, well, what’s marriage for? You know what I mean? What are we doing here?”
In an October 2024 interview with USA Today, Ronan gushed over her thriving personal life despite past fears that her career would always be her main priority.
“My life has become so much more than just work,” she explained. “For a long time, that’s all I did; that’s how I met people and made sense of the world.”
She continued, “I feel like I’m part of a group, which I never thought I would have. I used to think, ‘You’ll never have friends. You’ll never have a partner.’ I was so in my own world, in a lot of ways. So now, to feel like I’ve got a very rich personal and social life — it’s so precious to me.”
Ronan hoped that her life outside of the spotlight would one day include a family too.
“I became successful when I was quite young,” she told British Vogue in October 2024. “So it meant that, actually, by the time I found my partner, I’m now at the stage where if it happened, I would like to have a kid. I feel fortunate enough that if I step out of this for a minute, I’m hopefully not giving it up forever. But, yeah, I’ve always wanted that.”
