Sensex, Nifty50 close higher led by financial, auto, metal shares; all eyes on GST Council

Share Market Closing Bell: Domestic equity benchmarks jumped on Wednesday led by gains in financial, auto and metal shares, though losses in IT stocks played spoilsport, keeping the upside in check. 

Investors keenly awaited tax-related announcements with the 56th meeting of the GST Council underway. 

The finance minister-chaired rate-deciding panel is engaged in two-day deliberations on Wednesday and Thursday.
