Taylor Swift Revealed Her Wedding Planning Style 13 Years Before Engagement

11 hours ago 1

A coincidental 13 years before Taylor Swift said “yes” to Travis Kelce’s romantic proposal, the pop star offered insight into what she envisioned in her ultimate dream wedding.

“I want to build a life with someone that’s based on their dreams as well as my dreams,” Swift, 35, previously told Cosmopolitan in a 2012 cover story. “I don’t want it to just be like, ‘So, I have a scrapbook. In it, I put all the fabric swatches of the wedding dress I’m going to wear. I also have a tuxedo I picked out of a catalog that you’ll wear.’”

According to Swift, she never wanted to tell her future partner that she had “planned [their entire] life out,” down to the minute.

“I don’t want him to wonder if it even matters if he’s there,” Swift said. “I think that the idea of finding another person to share your life with is the most fascinating, beautiful quest you could ever be on in life.”

Swift pointed out that her professional success would mean very little without someone special to share it all with.

“Living your dreams is so important too, and a lot of times I’ve put that before everything else,” Swift added to Cosmo. “But then you get to a place where the whole time you’re living these dreams, you look beside you to say to someone, ‘Hey, isn’t this so much fun?!’ And if there’s no one there to say it to, what’s the point?”

Cut to more than a decade later, Swift found her person in Kelce, 35. After dating for two years following a now-infamous missed connection at her Eras Tour concert, Kelce proposed last month.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wrote in a joint Instagram post.

Kelce popped the question with an old mine brilliant cut diamond designed by Kindred Lubbock at Artifex Fine Jewelry, which he specifically chose with Swift in mind.

“Travis is incredibly thoughtful. He had a clear vision of what he wanted,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly later in August. “He chose it almost entirely on his own. He knows her so well and what she likes — a timeless, classic, vintage touch.”

The insider added, “He considered everything about what she’d like and want, and he paid attention to the jewelry she wears often for inspiration.”

Travis later told his brother, Jason Kelce, on their “New Heights” podcast this week that he and Swift are gearing up to start planning their sure-to-be monumental nuptials.

“Oh, it’s gonna go crazy,” Travis quipped on the Wednesday, September 3, episode. “That is the next step, yeah, I’ve heard about that.”

Swift and Travis have also been speaking about their future after they say “I do.”

“They absolutely want a family,” a second source told Us in August. “Their dream is to have kids. She’s in a great space in her career and with her success and she can take some time away.”

Swift previously called motherhood another dream in her now-throwback Cosmo story.

“Being a mom full-time, doing everything for my kids, having a bunch of them. One day, I’m sure,” Swift mused. “But that’s the only other thing that could be as thrilling for me as doing this [career].”
