The Challenge alum Jenna Compono shared a frightening update regarding daughter Carmella’s health.

“Thank you everyone for reaching out, I was so overwhelmed with all the kind words! Carmella got the croup cough and it caused her oxygen to drop to 85,” Compono, 32, wrote alongside a photo of her youngest daughter, 17 months, asleep in a hospital bed via Instagram on Sunday, July 13.

Compono explained that Carmella “was straining to breathe and wheezing.”

“She got X-rays to check if it was pneumonia or RSV, thank god it wasn’t,” she continued. “We got transferred to another hospital at 2 AM 45 minutes away 😐 She got the treatment she needed there and seems to be doing better.”

Compono concluded, “Stay sanitary everyone, it’s so scary when a little one goes through this.”

Fans and friends offered their support in the comments section.

“Poor thing!! Thank God she is doing better!! My grandson got scarlet fever a couple weeks ago and it’s always scary when a kiddo is sick!! Sending all the positive vibes to you Mama!!” one fan shared.

“Aww poor baby !! Sending all the love your way for your lil one ❤️❤️❤️,” another user added.

“When those babies get sick, it’s the most helpless, pitiful thing ever. I’ll keep her in my prayers,” fellow Challenge alum Cohutta Lee Grindstaff wrote.

Compono welcomed Carmella in February 2024 with husband Zach Nichols. The pair also share son Anthony, 3, and daughter Liliana, 2.

“We would like to introduce Miss Carmella Jean Nichols, who came into this world on 2/24/24 at 11:45PM,” Compono shared via Instagram at the time. “Let me just say we only got to the hospital at 11:30 PM, where I was fully dilated and didn’t have time for an epidural 😅 A few minutes later there she was. What an experience 😅♥️ She weighs 7 lbs 2 oz and was 20 inches long.”

In January, Compono and Nichols revealed that they were expecting their fourth child together. Compono shared a photo of her three kids sitting under “1,” “2” and “3” balloons, with an ultrasound scan and a “coming soon” board sitting under a “4” balloon.

“Because 3 kids wasn’t chaotic enough 🤣… Baby #4 coming August 2025 👶🏻♥️,” the MTV alum captioned the post.

In April, Compono shared an update on their unborn baby’s health, revealing that she had a choroid plexus cyst on her brain.

“I had my 20 week sono and they found a CPC seen in right ventricle of her brain (cyst). Genetic testing all came back low risk, the doctors mentioned it might fix itself but everything will be fine. Anyone experience this? 😳” she wrote via Instagram.

Sure enough, Compono revealed in a 25-week update on April 30 that the cyst on her baby’s brain had disappeared.

The choroid plexus is a part of the brain containing fluid that “bathes and protects the brain and spinal column,” according to UCSF Health. A cyst in this area appears in approximately 1 to 2 percent of babies when “a tiny bubble of fluid is pinched off as the choroid plexus forms.” These cysts typically resolve on their own with no consequences.

In a small percentage of cases, a choroid plexus cyst can lead to a chromosome disorder called trisomy 18, which can cause a stillbirth, UCSF Health noted.
