Travis Kelce Recalls 'Weeping' When Taylor Swift Got Her Masters Back

Taylor Swift opened up about how Travis Kelce was there for her when she was able to purchase her masters.

“I knock on the door, he’s playing video games and I’m trying to say it in a normal way …  he, like, puts his headset down … and I think he thought something was wrong,” Swift, 35, recalled of the emotional moment during the Wednesday, August 13, “New Heights” episode. “You come up and I go, ‘I got all my music back and I just absolutely started heaving crying.”

Kelce, also 35, added that Swift was “deadweight” and “lost control” after being overcome with emotion.

“[I] dropped, had no power in my legs to support myself,” she shared. “This changed my life. I can’t believe it still.”

Swift gushed that she was happy that Kelce was there to support her physically and emotionally — and he got emotional too.

“I started weeping … I was blown away that you had been doing this your entire life and for your six albums, you weren’t given the rights to all of that. I know how much that burned you,” Kelce confessed.

The “New Heights” podcast holds special significance for Swift and Kelce. During a July 2023 episode, he shared the story of how he failed to meet her at one of her Eras Tour concerts in Kansas City, Missouri. Swift subsequently reached out to Kelce after hearing about their missed connection, which kicked off their headline-making romance.

Prior to her podcast debut, Swift had only spoken publicly about her relationship with Kelce once.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she told TIME in December 2023, revealing that the couple “started hanging out right after that.”

Swift and Kelce went public with their romance in September 2023 when she attended one of his Kansas City Chiefs games, but the pair had already been going strong in secret prior to their first outing.

“We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other,” she explained. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

Swift also addressed her and Kelce’s willingness to enjoy their romance in the spotlight after her past tendency to maintain her privacy.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she said. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

As for Kelce, he reflected on how his relationship with Swift became serious in a GQ interview published on Tuesday, August 12.

“It happened very organically even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked,” he recalled. “It still happened very organically.”

What began as a crush for Kelce ultimately morphed into a lasting relationship.

“Nothing I’ve ever done has been a controlled, organized process,” he said. “When I say it was so organic, we fell in love just based off the people we were sitting in a room together.”

Outside of the public eye, Kelce and Swift connected over their similarities.

“We are two fun-loving people who have the morals to appreciate everyone for who they are. We share all those values. It kind of just took the f*** off,” he added. “Nowadays, I just want to be respected and loved by the people that I’m surrounded by in my work. I want to leave it better than where it was when I started. And I see her having those same values.”

Kelce also emphasized the normalcy of his relationship with Swift despite the attention they receive.

“Whenever I’m with her, it feels like we’re just regular people,” he gushed. “When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love.”
