The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert for several states in the country due to heavy rainfall. These include some districts across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, northern Punjab, northern Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, southwest Uttar Pradesh, northwest & eastern Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
Meanwhile, flight operations to Leh affected due to bad weather and Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory.
"Due to bad weather conditions in Leh, flight operations to the destination have been affected. We are working closely with all the stakeholders to support passengers and minimise inconvenience. For specific flight information, kindly contact the respective airline," Delhi Airport said in a passenger advisory posted on social media platform X.
Rains in Haryana
In Haryana's Ambala, severe waterlogging was seen in the residential areas after the heavy rainfall. Parts of Karnal city also witnessed light rainfall on Wednesday morning.

According to the IMD, Karnal's forecast for today and tomorrow is "Generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain or thundershowers." The forecast further says, "Partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers" for September 5 and 6, "Partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or Thunderstorm" for September 7, and "Generally cloudy sky with possibility of rain or Thunderstorm" for September 8."
Chhattisgarh: 1102 people affected by flood in Dantewada
The recent floods in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, have affected 1102 people, prompting the district administration to set up 27 relief camps.
These camps provide essential facilities, including food, clothing, blankets, and medical care, to those in need. The administration has distributed Rs 6.25 crore as compensation to the affected individuals, with Rs 1.91 crore disbursed initially and an additional Rs 4.34 crore distributed later.
Red alert issued in these states
The IMD has issued red alert warnings for several districts across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, northern Punjab, northern Haryana, eastern Rajasthan, southwest Uttar Pradesh, northwest & eastern Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
The updated nowcast suggests moderate to intense spells of rain in these regions over the next three hours, posing risks of flash floods, landslides, and waterlogging.
According to IMD, districts under red alert in Jammu & Kashmir include Poonch, Mirpur, Rajouri, Reasi, Jammu, Ramban, Udhampur, Samba, Kathua, Doda, and Kishtwar. In Punjab, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawashahr, Rupnagar, Moga, Ludhiana, Barnala, and Sangrur are under red alert; while in Himachal Pradesh, Mandi, Una, Bilaspur, Sirmaur, and Solan are under similar warnings. Haryana's Yamuna Nagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, and SAS Nagar are also under the same warning.
Himachal Pradesh: Rescue operations underway after landslide hits Kullu
The search and rescue operations are continuing after a landslide struck the Akhara Bazaar area in Kullu district, which damaged residential houses and left two people feared trapped under the debris, officials said.
The incident took place at around 7.30 AM on Tuesday, when a portion of a house collapsed due to the landslide.
"Yesterday, around 7.30 AM, a landslide hit the Akhara Bazaar, and a portion of the house collapsed. Two people are feared trapped...Debris are being removed with the help of the fire brigade teams..." an NDRF official said.
Following the incident, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, along with the fire brigade, were deployed to clear the debris and rescue the trapped individuals.
Further, at least 15 houses were evacuated in the Ner Gharwarsra Panchayat of Jogindernagar, approximately 80 km from Mandi town, following a landslide that hit the area.
Delhi-NCR
Gurugram is under yellow alert while the weather office issued a red alert warning for Ghaziabad and Noida. Schools are closed in Noida and Ghaziabad.
