A recent addition to Amazon that’s already number three on their top movies list, A Working Man is vintage Jason Statham butt-kicking, written by Sylvester Stallone and Training Day director David Ayer. This action thriller is based on the novel Levon’s Trade by Chuck Dixon and features Michael Peña and David Harbour alongside Statham.
Statham plays Levon Cade, a retired Royal Marines Colour Sergeant working as a construction foreman alongside his friend and boss Joe Garcia (Peña). When Joe’s daughter Jenny (Arianna Rivas) is kidnapped, Levon will take down any criminal in his path to rescue the girl who has become like a daughter to him. Full of shocking reveals and brutal fight sequences, A Working Man is exactly what you’d expect — and what you’d want — from Ayer, Stallone and Statham.

This 2002 action thriller started a huge franchise and became incredibly influential in the genre. It starts with a man being rescued from the Mediterranean Sea and waking up with no memory of who he is. As he begins to follow the clues and piece together his identity, Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) uncovers a vast conspiracy that requires him to use combat and linguistic skills he doesn’t even remember having.
Adrenaline-pumping action sequences combine with complex storytelling in this fast-paced spy thriller. Damon is magnetic in this gritty, grounded film, and his chemistry with the rest of the cast, including Franka Potente, Chris Cooper, Clive Owen and Brian Cox.

Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham, the powerhouse team behind Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, reunite in this adrenaline-pumping heist film. Statham plays Patrick Hill, often referred to as “H,” a new cash truck security guard charged with transporting millions of dollars across Los Angeles. But as his teammates soon learn, H has his own agenda. The twists are revealed in four acts, unveiling layers of deception, vengeance and high-stakes action as H’s true motives are exposed.
Tense and gritty, Statham plays his typical mixture of brooding and fierce perfectly, creating a dark and suspenseful thriller full of exciting action sequences and unexpected secrets. It’s a film worthy of Ritchie and Statham’s first collaboration in 16 years.

If you like a side of sorcery with your action, check out this Arnold Schwarzenegger film that combines a classic hero’s journey formula with epic action sequences and LOTS of muscles.
In a primitive, mythical world, a young Conan is enslaved after his village is massacred. As he grows into adulthood, Conan becomes a formidable warrior who seeks vengeance against the sinister priest Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones). Full of brutal slayings and raw physicality, it’s no wonder that Conan the Barbarian made Schwarzenegger an instant phenomenon.

Before there was Alan Ritchson in Reacher, there was Tom Cruise in the two Jack Reacher movies. Those films were modest hits, but because the 5 ‘7 Cruise wasn’t as tall or big as the book version of the character, they were dismissed by some as not worthy. But Cruise excels at action, and he’s really good in the Jack Reacher sequel, Never Go Back.
When Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders) is charged with the murder of two Army soldiers, Reacher believes she’s innocent and the victim of a cover-up. When Reacher is himself framed for the murder of Turner’s lawyer, he teams up with her to escape prison and find whoever is behind the conspiracy.

In a way, Memory is the closest Liam Neeson has ever come to playing James Bond — director Martin Campbell is best known for 007 films like Casino Royale and GoldenEye, and he brings his spy expertise to this film. Neeson plays seasoned hitman Alex Lewis, who grapples with a moral dilemma when he’s assigned to eliminate a young girl.
As Lewis decides to spare her, he finds himself on the run not just from his employers, but also from the FBI. This brings a tense interplay of cat-and-mouse dynamics, with Alex using his skills to evade capture while his own deteriorating memory adds a layer of personal conflict.
Memory is a slick, fast-paced story that blends action, suspense and psychological storytelling.

Cars, guns and undercover cops — what more can you ask for in an action flick? The 2001 movie that kicked off an enormous franchise, The Fast and the Furious stars Paul Walker as undercover cop Brian O’Conner. Brian infiltrates the world of illegal street racing to investigate a string of high-speed truck hijackings, but as he becomes more deeply involved, he finds himself torn between his duty to the law and his growing friendship with the charismatic street racer Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel.
If you know anything about this franchise, you know it’s all about family. True, but it’s also about daring stunts, fast cars and edge-of-your-seat entertainment.

This new original movie from Prime stars Idris Elba as the UK Prime Minister and John Cena as the President of the United States. When Air Force One is attacked, the two very different politicians must work together to save themselves — and their nations. Priyanka Chopra Jonas returns to her Quantico action star roots as an MI6 agent tasked with keeping the heads of state alive, while The Boys’ Jack Quaid is adorably nerdy as a CIA officer who’s a big fan of the president from his days as an action movie star.
The movie combines high stakes and excellent performances with high-octane humor and great special effects, making it a solid entry into Amazon Prime Video’s original film collection.

A good improv performer knows that saying “Yes, and…” is the key to a great scene. But a group of improvisers takes it a little too far when they’re recruited by police to participate in a real-life sting operation. Kat (Bryce Dallas Howard), Marlon (Orlando Bloom) and Hugh (Nick Mohammed of Ted Lasso) get in over their heads as they infiltrate a criminal syndicate and get mistaken for criminals themselves.
The concept of the movie is somehow both outrageous and believable. On the one hand, it does make a certain amount of sense for trained actors to go undercover instead of cops. On the other hand, why on earth would cops put civilians in that situation?
Our advice? Don’t overthink it. Deep Cover is a fun ride with great action sequences and surprising twists. The cast is charming and the movie lives up to the uniqueness of the premise.

Bruce Willis‘ 1988 action movie (which also doubles as a Christmas movie, for when that season comes around) is one of his most beloved, and with good reason. Directed by John McTiernan and based on a novel by Roderick Thorp, the film follows NYPD detective John McClane (Willis), who becomes embroiled in a terrorist takeover of Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles during a Christmas party. As the terrorists, led by the charismatic and ruthless Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), take hostages and orchestrate their plan, McClane uses his wit, tenacity, and cunning to thwart their efforts single-handedly.
It’s one (relatively) ordinary man against a powerful terrorist organization in this groundbreaking thriller, and McClane takes plenty of hits as he attempts to save the civilians. But his resilience and determination to beat the odds are what make him such an exciting protagonist. Die Hard blends suspense, comedy (“Welcome to the party, pal”) and explosive action. Willis performed many of his own stunts in this thrilling movie, so if you’re a fan of the actor, don’t miss him in the role he’s still best remembered for.

Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a forensic accountant for criminals who uncovers suspected theft by examining their financial records. When he’s hired by Lamar and Rita Blackburn (John Lithgow and Jean Smart) to investigate potential fraud in their robotics company, he soon encounters various hitmen trying to prevent him from finding the culprit. Fortunately for Christian, and to the detriment of everyone else, this accountant also knows his way around a gun and will find the truth no matter what.
Released in 2016, The Accountant was a big enough hit to warrant a long-delayed sequel in 2025. Affleck is good as the autistic Christian, who doesn’t want to use violence unless it’s absolutely necessary. Anna Kendrick shows up as a peppy fellow accountant unaware of Christian’s extracurricular activities, and Lithgow is appropriately shady as the CEO who knows more than he’s letting on.

Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) is a meteorologist who used to chase tornadoes before a traumatic incident forced her to quit. Five years later, she’s persuaded by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos) to do what she does best: cover dangerous storm systems and potentially save lives. But this time, she’ll have to team up with charismatic YouTuber Tyler Owens (Glen Powell) to overcome her past trauma and somehow make it out alive.
Twisters is a quasi-sequel to 1996’s Twister (none of the original actors make an appearance), but it has the same qualities that made that movie so appealing: two charismatic lead actors, a straightforward narrative and realistic special effects. The movie is good old-fashioned summer blockbuster fun, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything else.

Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) is a veteran Hollywood stuntman desperate for work. When his ex-girlfriend, film director Gail Meyer (Emily Blunt), hires him for her new action movie, Colt thinks his fortunes have improved. But when the film’s lead star, Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), mysteriously disappears, it’s up to Colt to find out what happened to him to save Gail’s movie — and maybe rekindle their romance.
Based on a 1980s TV series few people remember, The Fall Guy is a breezy, lightweight action-comedy that is like Romancing the Stone but with a little more violence. Gosling and Blunt have indelible chemistry together, and the stunts are legitimately impressive. It’s the rare movie that will please both rom-com fans and action movie bros alike.
