Former Bachelor Andrew Firestone announced he and his wife, Ivana Firestone, were splitting up — before abruptly deleting the post.
“Those who know us well know that family has always been at the foundation of our lives and at the center of everything we do,” Andrew, 50, wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, according to multiple outlets. “After much reflection and many hours of counseling we have decided that we can best serve our children and honor that commitment to family by moving forward separately as co-parents.”
Andrew continued, “While this was not an easy decision, we remain united in raising our children with love, stability, and the values we share.”
The couple, who got married in 2008, share three children: Adam, 16, Anja, 14, and Shane, 11.
“Though no longer a couple, we will always be a family, cheering from the actual and proverbial sidelines for our children’s — and each other’s — happiness and success,” the post reportedly continued. “Seventeen years of marriage is an achievement we deeply honor, as it brought us three extraordinary children and forged lifelong, generational bonds and friendships that will always endure.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Andrew and Ivana for comment.
Ivana hinted at a fresh start via social media on Sunday, August 31.
“She’s working on three things right now: herself, her life, her future,” she wrote via Instagram. “She is ME ✨.”
Andrew, the great-grandson of Firestone Tire & Rubber Company founder Harvey S. Firestone, appeared on the third season of The Bachelor in 2003, where he got engaged to Jen Schefft. The couple split later that year.
After getting engaged in 2007, Andrew and Ivana got married in Santa Barbara, California, in July 2008.
“We’re so happy right now we can hardly stand it!” the couple said in a statement at the time. “It is so special to be able to share this momentous day with our family and friends.”
Andrew reflected on his relationship with Ivana in a Valentine’s Day post on social media in 2021.
“16 years ago we had our first date, and I am not sure we were imagining the sort of year we just had…but I guarantee I was imagining what my life would be like with this woman,” he wrote via Instagram. “For better. For worse. Imagining what it would be like raising children. For better. For worse. Imagining what it would be like building a life together. For better. For worse.”
Andrew added, “Sitting across from you on our first date 16 years ago I could not have imagined this amazing life. For better…No, FAR better than anything I could have imagined. I love you to the moon…!”
