The cast and crew of Homebound walked the red carpet at the 78th Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday evening ahead of the film’s official screening in the Un Certain Regard section.
Actors Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa, along with director Neeraj Ghaywan and producer Karan Johar, represented the film at the premiere. The event marked Kapoor’s debut at Cannes.
Kapoor wore a rose-colored outfit by designer Tarun Tahiliani, featuring a metallic sheen and a veil that covered her bun. According to fashion account Diet Sabya, her look was a tribute to her late mother, actor Sridevi. “Janhvi channeling mother Sri for first Cannes red carpet Lewk,” the account wrote.
The outfit included a hand-crushed skirt and corset made from real tissue fabric woven in Benaras. Kapoor completed the look with pearl jewellery.
Khatter wore a wine-colored velvet suit with black embroidery across the chest. The tailored look was paired with wide-leg trousers, keeping the overall appearance minimal but distinctive.
Director Neeraj Ghaywan was seen assisting Kapoor with her outfit on the red carpet, and the team posed for photographs outside the Palais des Festivals. Karan Johar, who co-produced the film, wore a long white coat with shoulder and button embellishments, wide black trousers, and a ruffled collar.
Homebound is directed by Ghaywan and features Kapoor, Khatter, and Jethwa in lead roles. The film is part of the Un Certain Regard lineup at Cannes. Martin Scorsese is attached as executive producer.
In addition to Johar, the film is produced by Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. Co-producers include Marijke de Souza and Melita Toscan du Plantier.
