'Dexter: Resurrection' Season 1 Ending Explained: Who Died? Who Made Cameos?

8 hours ago 1

Dexter: Resurrection wrapped up season 1 with several brutal deaths — but where does the fictional serial killer’s story go from here?

Warning: This story contains spoilers about season 1 of Dexter: Resurrection.

During the season 1 finale, which aired on Friday, September 5, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) barely escaped Prater’s (Peter Dinklage) secret lair. Dexter then killed Prater — and covered up the crime — before seemingly making plans to meet other serial killers in the area.

Dexter was also able to come full circle with his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), in his quest to be a better dad. Fans of the Dexter universe even got a fun surprise when Dexter’s brother showed up as one of his manifestations alongside dad Harry (James Remar).

Dexter, which originally premiered in 2006, introduced Us to Hall as the prolific fictional killer, whose journey wrapped up in 2013. He returned to TV screens as Dexter in a 2021 spinoff titled New Blood, which ended just one year later.

Despite Dexter’s death in the revival, the demand for more stories about the fictional serial killer didn’t waver. By 2024, Dexter received a short-lived prequel and a spinoff that found a way to bring the titular character back to life.
