New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo received a special delivery after having surgery at a Philadelphia hospital.
Philadelphia Eagles chief of security, Dom DiSandro, dropped off pizza and cheesesteaks for Skattebo, 23, at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center on Monday, October 27, according to Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Jeff McLane.
DiSandro, known as Big Dom, has worked for the Eagles organization since 1999 and become a notorious part of the franchise’s fabric.
In 2023, DiSandro was given a $100,00 fine and ejected from the Eagles’ Week 13 game against the San Francisco 49ers after getting into a physical altercation with 49ers player Dre Greenlaw.

“Dom is as good as they get in this business,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said after the incident. “I’m so thankful for him. He’s gonna always try to defuse situations. That’s what he does. That’s his job.”
As for Skattebo, the Giants rookie was injured during the second quarter of the Giants’ game against the Eagles at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.

The running back, who was in the midst of a star-making rookie season, was carted off the field and had surgery on Sunday.
“Thank you everyone for the support!!” Skattebo wrote via X on Monday. “Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way ❤️ thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me.”
Skattebo added, “This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me , stick the course and it will all work itself out , BRB 🫡 #LFG.”
The running back’s girlfriend, Chloe Rodriguez, reposted Skattebo’s message via her Instagram Story on Monday, sharing it with a blue heart emoji.
Skattebo will miss the remainder of his rookie season, but NFL insider Ian Rapoport gave an optimistic timeline for his return.
“If all is good and clean and the surgery went as well as everyone believes, he should be back with no issues for next year,” Rapoport posted via X on Monday. “It’s a gruesome injury, but the recovery is actually not as bad.”

Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who took over from Russell Wilson as the team’s starter during Week 4, reflected on Skattebo’s injury during his postgame comments on Sunday.
“It’s my boy, man, so seeing him go down and obviously reacting to what happened, that sucks,” Dart, 22, told reporters. “It’s the worst part of this game.”
Giants head coach Brian Daboll added on Monday, “All went well, he’s recovering, and obviously he’ll be missed. On the road to recovery.”
The Giants return to action, without Skattebo, when they host the 49ers on Sunday, November 2.
