iPhone 17 Pro vs 16 Pro vs 15 Pro Price Specs: Apple on Tuesday unveiled its latest flagship iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max at the much-hyped “Awe Dropping” event, alongside the new iPhone 17 Air, AirPods Pro 3, and Apple Watch Ultra 3.
The new iPhones promise major upgrades in design, performance, cameras, and battery life. Here’s how the iPhone 17 Pro series stacks up against last year’s iPhone 16 Pro and the 2023 iPhone 15 Pro lineup--with a full breakdown of specs, features, and pricing in India.

Display & Durability: Brighter and stronger
iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max: Same sizes as last year (6.3-inch and 6.9-inch) but brighter, with 3,000 nits peak outdoor brightness and 2x better outdoor contrast.
iPhone 16 Pro & Pro Max: 2,000 nits brightness.
iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max: Also capped at 2,000 nits.
The new Ceramic Shield 2 offers 3x better scratch resistance, and for the first time, Apple has added Ceramic Shield protection to the back as well.

Performance: A19 Pro chip with vapor chamber
Apple’s A19 Pro chip headlines the performance boost, paired with a new Apple-designed vapor chamber for better cooling. Apple claims up to 40 per cent better sustained performance, especially for gaming, video editing, and AI workloads.
iPhone 17 Pro: A19 Pro with Neural Accelerators.
iPhone 16 Pro: A18 Pro, no Neural Accelerators.
iPhone 15 Pro: A17 Pro, older thermal design.
All three generations retain a 6-core CPU, 6-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine.
Cameras: Big leaps with center stage selfies and fusion trio
The front camera gets the biggest shake-up:
iPhone 17 Pro: 18MP Center Stage front camera, captures in portrait or landscape without rotating the phone. AI auto-expands when more people enter the frame.
iPhone 16 Pro & 15 Pro: 12MP front camera, no Center Stage.
On the rear, Apple’s Fusion camera tech expands across all three lenses:
iPhone 17 Pro: Triple 48MP (Main, Ultra Wide, Telephoto). The new Telephoto offers 4x and 8x optical zoom, up from 5x on the 16 Pro, and supports up to 40x digital zoom.
iPhone 16 Pro: 48MP Main Fusion + 48MP Ultra Wide + 12MP Telephoto.
iPhone 15 Pro: 48MP Main + 12MP Ultra Wide + 12MP Telephoto.
For videographers, iPhone 17 Pro adds ProRes RAW, Log 2, Genlock support, and Dual Capture (recording from front and back simultaneously).

Design & Colors: Aluminum plateau, no black
This year Apple shifts to a brushed aluminum 7000-series alloy for the Pro models, ditching titanium from the iPhone 16 Pro. The camera bump is replaced by a full-width rear “plateau”, giving space for a bigger battery.
iPhone 17: Colors available
iPhone 17 Pro: Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, Silver.
iPhone 16 Pro: Titanium finishes, including Black.
iPhone 15 Pro: Black, Silver, Gold, and Blue.
Noticeably, Black and Gold are gone this year—a bold move by Apple.
Battery Life: Longest ever in an iPhone
Apple has taken battery performance up a notch:
iPhone 17 Pro: Up to 33 hours video playback (vs 27 hours on 16 Pro, 23 on 15 Pro).
iPhone 17 Pro Max: Up to 39 hours video playback (vs 33 on 16 Pro Max, 29 on 15 Pro Max).
Streaming times are also higher, with 30 hours on the 17 Pro and 35 hours on the Pro Max.
Storage: 256GB as the new standard
For the first time, Apple has doubled base storage across all models.

iPhone 16 Pro: 128GB base (Pro Max at 256GB).

Interestingly, while the iPhone 17 Pro costs more than the 16 Pro, it matches the price of the older iPhone 15 Pro, despite offering double the base storage. The Pro Max, on the other hand, is cheaper than the iPhone 15 Pro Max at launch.
Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro series offers brighter displays, stronger durability, a massive camera leap, and record-breaking battery life. But the missing black color and higher entry price may divide opinion among Pro users.
