Mylchreest, 27, and Carson, 32, star as Jamie and Anna in the Netflix rom-com which premiered earlier this month. The film, an adaptation of Julia Whelan’’s novel of the same name, follows Anna as she falls in love with Jamie — who also happens to be her literature professor — while spending a year abroad at the University of Oxford. While the pair quickly develop an epic romance, Jamie is withholding a secret that threatens to change everything forever.

Following the film’s release, Mylchreest and Carson were applauded for characters’ chemistry. However, the Queen Charlotte star exclusively told Us Weekly that he and Carson didn’t totally agree on what’s needed when it comes to creating sparks on screen.

“Sophia is much more in the camp that it is this intangible thing,” he explained.  “And I think I find it to be more about commitment to the role independently and your willingness to jump and discover what their relationship is.”

Mylchreest admitted that getting along with each other also “doesn’t hurt.”

“I’m very lucky in that I haven’t had an experience where I don’t get on with my scene partner,” he added. “It makes the day a lot easier.”

While recent details on Mylchreest’s dating life are scarce, he revealed he had a girlfriend while speaking to Extra about prepping for Queen Charlotte in 2023.

 “I sat down with my girlfriend and we did the whole shebang,” he told the outlet, seemingly referring to reported girlfriend and British actress Hannah Holland.
