Kate Middleton made it back at Wimbledon — and everyone is more than happy to see her in attendance.
The Princess of Wales, 43, attended the ladies’ singles final of the Wimbledon Championships alongside club chair Debbie Jevan on Saturday, July 12. Multiple videos of the moment she entered the arena showed the Princess visibly moved by the growing applause she received.
In one video shared by Wimbledon on social media, Kate, who was wearing a coordinate cream suit, initially entered the arena to a smattering of applause as she smiled and greeted attendees, including tennis legend Billie Jean King. As the applause grew louder, Kate more widely acknowledged the arena as she smiled broadly and waved, seemingly taken aback by the moment.
Kate, the patron of the All England Club, has been a tournament fixture over the years. Her attendance this year was expected, despite the fact that she missed the Royal Charity Polo Cup, her husband’s annual charity polo match, on Friday, July 11.
The Princess of Wales was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in early 2024. In January of this year, she revealed she is in remission and slowly began to return to royal duties. On July 8, she joined the Prince of Wales at a banquet held in honor of France’s president Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron.
During a July 2 visit to Colchester Hospital in Essex, Kate opened up about where she’s at with her recovery.
“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” she explained. “You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to.”
She continued, “Someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable. It’s a roller-coaster. It’s not smooth, like you expect it to be, but the reality is you go through hard times.:
The Princess of Wales also addressed her health scare in a lengthy statement released in September 2024, announcing that she had completed her treatment and would, as a result, be making more public appearances as she returned to her royal duties.

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she shared. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,” she continued. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she added. “I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can. Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”
