Katie Maloney Reveals 'VPR' Production Secrets About Scheana, Brock Wedding

Katie Maloney is finally addressing Scheana Shay‘s recent comments by revealing some surprising production secrets about her former Vanderpump Rules costar’s wedding to Brock Davies.

During the Wednesday, September 10, episode of her “Disrespectfully” podcast, Katie, 38, explained how she chose not to speak up when Scheana, 40, was making subtle digs at her. It wasn’t until Katie heard details from Scheana’s memoir that she changed her approach.

“It was because I’ve read some things about me in her book that I’ve seen. I’ve been told that she’s just referred to me as a drunk throughout her book, which is whatever. But when she had said that the new low for a cast member was me going to Mexico, I was like, ‘No,'” Katie said while referring to Scheana and Brock’s 2022 nuptials, which were filmed for the show. “Basically, she just retold what had happened but called it a new low.”

Katie noted that she had “never talked about” the real reason she went to Mexico — where Scheana and Brock’s wedding was being filmed — despite being at odds with her costar at the time.

“It wasn’t because I wouldn’t get paid or I’d miss out. They were going to have to film me regardless of whether I was in Mexico and I was going to be in an episodic [rate]. I was paid per episode, so I was getting that episode no matter what,” Katie revealed. “Scheana — for months — was panicking because Bravo told her they were not going to film her wedding. They did not want to film her wedding.”

Complications arose when multiple Vanderpump Rules cast members planned to fly out despite cameras not going with them.

“Everyone was going, and I know production was freaking out because half — the majority — of the cast was going to be there. What were they going to do? Were they going to have to ask some people to stay back? Who knows?” Katie continued. “But when Scheana and I ended up having all that drama, one of the producers was like, ‘So here’s the thing, you have to go.’ He’s like, ‘I sold [Bravo] on filming Scheana’s wedding because I’ve sold it as there’s going to be two trips happening.'”

Katie was asked to still be in the same place as the rest of the cast. She got to bring her friend Kristina Kelly so there would be “two trips happening at the same time” without production having to worry about the travel logistics that would have come from the cast being in separate places.

“I was like, ‘Alright, but is someone going to tell her this? Because I feel like if I’m just really pushing to go that it’s just going to be weird.’ I don’t want to go. I would rather stay home and pick my f***ing nose,” Katie added before confirming Scheana never heard the full story from her. “She doesn’t know. I never told her. I wouldn’t want to be like, ‘Well, guess what? The only reason why the camera is here is because I’m here.’ That makes me sound like a f***ing asshole. But Lala [Kent] was in the car with me when he told me this, if she wants to corroborate.”

After keeping the information private, Katie chose to speak out because of how Scheana discussed her being in Mexico at the same time as them.

“Here’s the thing. I am good at my job. I don’t speak about this s***. I don’t spoil the behind-the-scenes stuff. I don’t make producers’ lives hard. That’s why I’ve never been demoted — unlike Scheana. So I’m better at my job than you were. And I didn’t want to be an a**hole,” she continued. “Believe it or not, I feel like an a**hole now talking about it. But if you must know, you must know.”

Katie concluded: “If she wants to keep going on podcasts and being bitchy about it and pretend like I’m forgettable, go on, girl. I don’t care. She was talking about how she wasn’t gonna send me her book. I don’t want your book. You asked me for my address last year to send me some bulls*** in the mail. I don’t want you to know where I live. How about that? I don’t care. I’ve actively put you out of my life on purpose. So please stop talking about me.”

Scheana, for her part, revealed during an August episode of her “Scheananigans” podcast where she stands with Katie, saying, “Haven’t seen her or spoken to her in almost a year. So, that’s where we stand, clearly far apart.”
