Keith Urban was a fighter once again at the final show of his High and Alive Tour.
Urban, 57, performed his and Carrie Underwood’s 2016 hit “The Fighter” during his concert at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Friday, October 17. While performing the song with utility player Natalie Stovall, Urban sang, “‘Cause you’re beautiful,” and then let out a chuckle as he quickly said, “And I’ve forgotten my own words to my song,” as seen in footage shared by a fan via TikTok.
Stovall, 43, laughed off Urban’s mistake and danced beside him until it was her turn to sing.
Urban notably performed “The Fighter” after he previously removed the love song from his tour setlist amid a controversy involving utility player Maggie Baugh.
The Road host made headlines for his and Baugh’s September 25 performance of the song, which was inspired by the country singer’s now-estranged wife, Nicole Kidman. During his Chicago tour stop, Urban changed a lyric to give Baugh, 25, a shout-out.
“When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player,” Urban sang. (The original lyric is, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be your fighter,” which Urban sang during Friday’s concert.)
Baugh shared footage of the moment via Instagram after the concert, writing, “Did he just say that 👀.” The post resurfaced after Us Weekly confirmed Urban’s separation from Kidman, 58, on September 29. (Us also confirmed that the Babygirl actress, who shares daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Urban, filed for divorce the following day.)
While fans speculated that Maggie played a role in the end of Urban and Kidman’s marriage, her father, Chuck Baugh, denied the rumors.
“NO. Just no,” he wrote via Facebook on October 1, sharing a TikTok video that claimed his daughter may “allegedly [be] the person responsible for Keith’s divorce from Nicole Kidman.”
Baugh has not performed with Urban since their Chicago show. The guitar player put on a show in Carmel, Indiana, while Urban was in Nashville on Friday.
Baugh has yet to directly address the controversy. She took a brief break from social media following backlash for her performance with Urban in Chicago but returned on October 6 to reveal that she had an “announcement coming soon.” Two days later, Baugh announced her new single, “The Devil Win.”
“I don’t know what the hell I believe in / I don’t know how to heal my soul / Or how to fight this feeling and it’s a damn good place to go / No matter how close I get to the burning edge / Tempting as it is, I won’t let the Devil win,” Baugh sings in the song, which was released on October 10.
Baugh also performed at the Grand Ole Opry Hallmark Takeover on October 15, taking to social media to promote the special, which airs on The Hallmark Channel on November 29.
“2 broken strings in the same solo, but we did it yall! 🤘🏻 thank you to the Opry and hallmark for having me,” Baugh captioned a video on TikTok.
