Lauren Sánchez was one proud mom while celebrating a bittersweet milestone with son Evan.
“Dropped off Evan at college today,” Sánchez, 55, wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, August 11. “18 years of early mornings, late night snacks and family dinners … and then there he was building his own dorm cabinet.”
She continued, “A small thing but in that moment I saw the start of his next chapter. Proud. Heartbroken. Grateful.”
Alongside the message, Sánchez shared an image of Evan on the floor constructing a piece of furniture inside his dorm room. (Sánchez welcomed Evan with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell in 2006. The exes also share daughter Ella, whom they welcomed in 2008. Sánchez is also mom to son Nikko, whom she welcomed with ex Tony Gonzalez in 2001.)
Months before Evan started his new chapter, he celebrated his mom’s nuptials to Jeff Bezos in Venice, Italy, in June. Sánchez was accompanied by Evan and Nikko as she walked down the aisle, with daughter Ella serving as her maid of honor and doing a reading. Days before the wedding, the couple threw a foam party for Evan’s birthday on their $500 million superyacht.
Sánchez and Bezos, 61 — who shares four kids with ex-wife MacKenzie Scott — have blended their families since their relationship began.
“On a typical Saturday, we hang out, we have dinner with the kids,” Sánchez reflected to The Wall Street Journal in 2023, “which is always fun because you never know where the conversation is going to go with this many kids.”
Sánchez and Bezos got engaged in 2023 while vacationing in Europe. While recalling the proposal to Vogue, Sánchez joked that she “blacked out a bit” when Bezos opened the box.
As she planned for the future, Sánchez addressed whether she would be taking Bezos’ last name after marriage. “Uh, yes, 100 percent,” she told the outlet at the time. “I am looking forward to being Mrs. Bezos.”
Bezos, meanwhile, noted that he would not be getting deep into wedding planning. “Oh, God, no. Do I look that dumb?” he quipped when asked about his involvement.
“We’re still thinking about the wedding, what it’s going to be. Is it going to be big? Is it going to be overseas?” Sánchez added. “We don’t know yet. We’ve only been engaged five months!”
After the ceremony, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the nuptials were “really beautiful and low-key, not over the top at all.”
