Nina Dobrev Posted About Trying to 'Fix' a Man Before Shaun White Split

Nina Dobrev posted a cryptic TikTok video just days before news broke of her split from Shaun White.

“How do you sleep at night knowing people don’t like you?” Dobrev, 36, lipsynced in the video uploaded on Friday, September 5. “With no underwear, in case they wanna kiss my ass.”

The audio then asked a question seemingly referring to having trouble in a relationship.

“What’s your advice for women trying to fix their man?” the audio continued. “Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew.”

Dobrev didn’t elaborate on the meaning of the video, but she captioned the clip with a construction person, truck and hammer emojis.

One day before Dobrev shared her cryptic post, the actress included a roundup of moments from her summer. The Instagram slideshow included a snap of her and White, 39, in bed.

“Summer doesn’t officially end until September 22nd FYI 🌞,” she wrote in the caption.

Us Weekly confirmed on Thursday, September 11, that Dobrev and White called it quits and ended their engagement after five years together. Reps for Dobrev and White did not return Us’ request for comment.

Before their breakup made headlines, Dobrev and White were last spotted together less than two weeks ago. The pair were photographed while shopping at a Los Angeles farmers’ market on August 31.

Dobrev and White started dating in 2020. During the early days of their romance, White opened up about navigating a long-distance relationship.

“We have a nice little system of how to stay in touch,” he exclusively told Us in 2021. “Plane tickets are pretty much booked for any opportunity that we can go see one another. So, I know during the holiday break, we’re going to meet up, and we’re going to meet up again probably around Christmas time. Anything that happens in between, then I’ll jet over and see her. You just make it work.”

White continued: “I think that’s the goal of it all and the key to it all is just making the time. [Nina’s] super organized and on top of it, so I give it to her. She always finds a way to make it happen.”

The duo announced in October 2024 that they were engaged. “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé 💍♾️,” Dobrev captioned photos of her and the Olympian standing in front of a floral arch while showing off her diamond ring.

White, for his part, celebrated their relationship milestone with a post of his own. “She said YES 💍♾️,” he wrote alongside a photo of him down on one knee.
