The Summer I Turned Pretty teased the letters Susannah wrote to Belly and Conrad for their respective wedding days — but what did the messages say for those of Us who can’t read cursive?

During the Wednesday, August 27, episode of the hit Prime Video series, Belly (Lola Tung) was about to get married to Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) before Conrad (Chris Briney) revealed he still had feelings for her. At the center of the drama was Conrad and Jeremiah’s later mother, Susannah (Rachel Blanchard), who wrote letters for her kids and Belly before she died.

The contents of said letters weren’t visible to everyone, though. In fact, Jenny Han, who wrote the original book series and created the show, had to take to social media to share the entire message after some viewers complained they couldn’t read Susannah’s cursive.

“I am just bursting at the thought that my beautiful boy has found the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with. I only ever got to see you in love once, and for that I will always, always be grateful. Not just that I got to see you in love but I got to see you be loved,” Susannah wrote, per the author. “Oh, the way she looked at you — it was like you were the only boy in the world. As a mother, there is no greater gift to see her child be so dearly loved by another person.”

As fans know, Susannah’s words about Belly and Conrad were accidentally read by Jeremiah — ahead of his own planned wedding to Belly.

“Today, if there is even a fraction of the love I saw then, I am more than happy, I am overjoyed,” Susannah continued in the message for Conrad. “Don’t be afraid to tell her every day how very much she means to you. Cook for her, be a good listener, don’t try to win every argument. Jewelry is always welcome. Pay attention to if she wears gold or silver. If she is not a jewelry girl, then chocolate.”

Susannah also wrote a letter to Belly, which she has yet to open on screen.

“Right now, I am picturing you today, on your wedding day, looking radiant and lovely, the prettiest bride there ever was. I picture you about thirty or so, a woman who’s had lots and lots of adventures and romances,” read the message. “I picture you marrying a man who is solid and steady and strong, a man with kind eyes. I am sure your young man is completely wonderful, even if he doesn’t have the last name Fisher! Ha.”

She concluded: “You know that I could not love you more if you were my own daughter. My Belly, my special girl. Watching you grow up was one of the great joys of my life. My girl who ached and yearned for so many things … a kitten you could name Margaret, rainbow roller skates, edible bubble bath! A boy who would kiss you the way Rhett kissed Scarlett. I hope you’ve found him, darling. Be happy. Be good to each other.”

The Summer I Turned Pretty airs on Prime Video Wednesdays.
