Heavy rain continues to affect Himachal Pradesh, due to which the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for three districts. Meanwhile, many killed and injured after twin cloudbursts triggered flash floods in the Margi area of Warwan Valley in Kishtwar district.

The Yamuna River continues to flow near the danger mark in the national capital, prompting heightened alert along vulnerable areas.

According to a report issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday (August 26), active monsoon conditions are likely to prevail over Delhi during the next 4 days. Generally cloudy sky, very light to light rain/thundershowers at a few places with moderate rain at isolated places during night/early hours on 26 Aug 2025, and possibility of very light to light rain thereafter.

Red alert issued in these districts of Himachal Pradesh

The weather department has issued a red alert for Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi for the next two days as heavy rainfall continues to affect Himachal Pradesh. 

Although Mandi and Kullu saw clear skies today, authorities remain on high alert due to rising water levels and landslide-prone roads. 

A Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall is in place on August 28 in Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi, and on August 29 in Shimla and Mandi.

Additionally, an Orange Alert has been issued for August 30-31 in Mandi, Shimla, and Solan. Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, and Shimla will also experience an Orange Alert on August 31.

30 killed in Mata Vaishno Devi shrine route cloudburst

At least 30 people were killed and 14 others were injured after a landslide hit the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine route in J&K's Reasi district, even as the water level in all the rivers of Jammu division and the Jhelum River in Kashmir flowed above the flood level on Wednesday.

A major tragedy struck on the pilgrimage route to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district on Tuesday when a landslide killed 30 pilgrims and injured 14 others, officials said.

Twin cloudbursts triggered flash floods in the Margi area of Warwan Valley in Kishtwar district, washing away at least 10 houses, over 300 kanals of crops, livestock, and a bridge.

Authorities have declared a flood in the Jhelum River in the Valley as the river was flowing above the danger mark at Ram Munshibagh in Srinagar this morning.
