Ann-Margret Makes Rare Public Appearance, Praised for Being 'Female Elvis'

Ann-Margret stepped out for a rare red carpet and TV appearance looking beautiful as ever.

The actress, 84, attended Project Angel Food’s Lead With Love fundraiser in Los Angeles on Saturday, June 28. She posed for photos in a black long-sleeve top, black pants and black boots and sported a silver cross necklace paired with her fiery red hair.

Once inside the telethon event, Ann-Margret took the stage with Eric McCormack, which was broadcast on KTLA 5. McCormack, 62, gushed about getting to share the stage with the entertainer, whom he praised for her “’60s dance moves that captivated the world.”

“You changed how a generation hit the dance floor,” he continued. “Where do those incredible moves come from? Does everyone in Sweden dance like that?”

She responded, “My heart and my seat.”

KTLA also posted a clip via Instagram from the night of the event that showed Ann-Margret receiving a round of applause as she made her way through the audience.

“I have a lot of male friends that are very, very jealous of me tonight because I get to stand here with you,” McCormack said.

The Will & Grace alum also called Ann-Margret “the female Elvis,” a comment that made her smile.

Ann-Margret reflected on her friendship with Elvis Presley numerous times in the past after they worked together on 1964’s Viva Las Vegas. (Presley died at age 42 in 1977.)

“Being with E.P., we laughed so hard! He teased the heck out of me, but I teased him right back! He wasn’t going to get away with that,” she recalled of working with the singer on the film in a March 2024 interview with Closer Weekly.

While the pair had a great relationship, there are still some aspects of her bond with Presley that she still chooses to keep close to her chest.

“Everyone knows how I felt about him and the friendship that we had all these years. It was very, very private,” Ann-Margret told Closer in May 2023.

Ann-Margret’s recent public appearance came after she reminisced about her Hollywood career via Instagram.

“Looking back at some cherished memories. ❤️ What a ride it’s been!” she captioned a throwback photo of herself sitting on a motorcycle on June 18.

“OH MY GOSH ANN!! What a gorgeous picture! Was that your motorcycle?🔥,” one person wrote in a comment, while a second person said, “Gorgeous Anne! You had it all and still do sweet lady.❤️.”

Ann-Margret has long had a love for riding motorcycles. Last year, she revealed that she still frequently took her Harley-Davidson bike out for rides.

“It’s lavender, and it’s got white daisies all over it. There [are] flowers on the back fender and the front fender. … I love speed. Not the drug,” she told Fox News in February 2024.
