Brandy returned to the stage on Sunday, October 19, after abruptly ending her and Monica’s concert due to dehydration.
Brandy, 46, performed her entire set at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, just one night after she abruptly exited the stage mid-performance in Chicago on Saturday, October 18, during her coheadlining The Boy Is Mine Tour with fellow singer Monica.
Brandy and Monica, 44, did not perform their hit 1998 single “The Boy Is Mine” on Saturday due to Brandy’s ill health, but the singers were back together on Sunday to serenade concertgoers in Indianapolis.
“Brandy and Monica tonight here in Indianapolis for the boy is mine tour. They doing they thing for Indianapolis,” wrote one fan on X, praising the two stars.
Another shared, “Yall making the trip to Indianapolis was totally worth seeing Brandy + Monica again the day after seeing them in my city Chicago!! Full experience.”
Earlier on Sunday, the “Afrodisiac” singer apologized to her fans for abruptly walking offstage during Saturday’s performance at the United Center in Chicago, explaining that she was experiencing dehydration.
“To my dear fans in Chicago, thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and — most importantly — your prayers,” she said in a statement. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.”
“I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling OK with having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical,” she continued. “Unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production, I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts.”
Brandy went on, “I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism and the entire crew for their continued care and support. I went from the arena to see a doctor nearby and have taken the proper precautions to help moving forward. Your understanding, patience, and unwavering belief mean the world to me.”
The singer concluded her post by vowing to return to the stage on Sunday “stronger and more grateful than ever” before the Indianapolis crowd.
Brandy and Monica kicked off their Boy Is Mine Tour on Thursday, October 16, in Cincinnati, Ohio, followed by a Friday, October 17, show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The tour, comprised of 32 dates, is set to wrap in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 14.
In an interview with Essence earlier this month, Brandy hyped up the tour as a “full-circle moment” for her and Monica.
“It’s a chance to honor where we’ve come from, to celebrate the people who’ve supported us from the very beginning, and to share the stage in a way that feels fresh, powerful and deeply connected to who we are now,” she said. “It’s emotional, it’s inspiring and it reminds me that music really is timeless.”
“When we’re together, it creates a sense of balance and support that allows me to be fully present,” she added of her bond with Monica. “Sharing that bond with her goes beyond the music. It reflects a mutual respect and understanding that’s been built over years of experiences.”
