Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery Opens Up About Pregnancy With 1st Baby

Michelle Dockery is breaking her silence on her pregnancy with her first baby!

“I’m feeling great, thanks,” the Downton Abbey star told Jimmy Fallon after he congratulated her and asked how she was feeling on the Tuesday, September 9, episode of The Tonight Show.

Dockery added, “I think I’m in my peppy phase.”

Dockery, 43, revealed her pregnancy when she debuted her baby bump at the world premiere of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale in London on September 3. The actress walked the red carpet with her husband, Jasper Waller-Bridge, in a blue off-the-shoulder gown that accentuated her bump. At one point, the British actress placed a gentle hand on her belly as she posed for photos.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show, Fallon, 50, asked Dockery whether her dog, Alfie, whom they’ve talked about before on the show, has realized she is pregnant.

“People keep asking me, ‘Does he know? They’re so sensitive.’ He doesn’t care,” Dockery quipped. “I don’t think he has any clue. So I’m quite disappointed.”

Dockery recently opened up about her dog in an interview with Architectural Digest published on Tuesday as she threw open the doors of her and Waller-Bridge’s house in West London to the outlet.

“After a day’s work, I can’t wait to curl up on the sofa and watch a movie with Alfie, our kindest, sweetest dog, curled up between me and Jasper,” she said of the couple’s home. “We travel a lot for work, so it was important to me that I had a home that felt like a luxury to walk into.”

Dockery began dating her film producer husband — the brother of Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge — in 2019, and the couple announced their engagement three years later.

“The engagement is announced between Jasper, son of Michael Waller-Bridge of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, and Teresa Waller-Bridge of Battersea, London, and Michelle, younger daughter of Michael and Lorraine Dockery of Gidea Park, Essex,” read a notice of marriage published in the Times of London in January 2022.

The couple tied the knot at a church in West London in September 2023 with guests including the groom’s sister Phoebe, her partner, Martin McDonagh, and Dockery’s Downton Abbey costars Lily James and Laura Carmichael.
