Gia Giudice hasn’t gotten her Dancing With the Stars offer just yet, but she has fond memories about her mom, Teresa Giudice, doing the show.
“It is seriously such an intense show,” Gia, 24, recalled during the Wednesday, September 10, episode of her “Casual Chaos” podcast. “I don’t know if it’s as intense as Special Forces. I think it’s a little different. Definitely, it’s still intense.”
Gia recalled her mom spending “long hours” at rehearsals with former partner Pasha Pashkov. (Teresa and Pasha were partners during season 31 of DWTS and placed 15th.)
“My mom was rehearsing basically every day for, like, four to five hours at a time. Her partner was Pasha, and she said that he was so sweet and so patient with her,” Gia continued. “I definitely remember my mom losing a lot of weight because she was constantly moving and constantly exercising. It’s definitely a lot [on] the body, and it’s a lot of pressure.”
She also remembered Pasha traveling to New Jersey for rehearsals with Teresa despite the ballroom competition being filmed on the West Coast.
“They go everywhere that you are to accommodate your schedule and your work schedule, while also fitting in dances and rehearsing for Dancing With the Stars,” she added.
Gia explained that she’s “always been a big fan” of DWTS and is excited about watching this season, which premieres September 16. The Next Gen NYC star also had a message to critics of TikTok star Alix Earle’s involvement in the show. (Alix, 24, is partnered with Val Chmerkovskiy for the upcoming season.)
“I know Alix is actually getting some backlash because people were like, ‘Oh, this is so unfair. She was a dancer growing up,’” Gia said. “I mean, nobody really said that about Charli D’Amelio.”
Charli, 21, won DWTS season 31 alongside pro Mark Ballas and just finished a run in & Juliet on Broadway.
“Alix Earle danced as a little girl like the rest of us. I danced when I was a little girl. Would I say I’m a professional dancer now? No, absolutely not,” Gia continued. “I dance in the clubs just like Alix does, and I don’t think they’re Dancing With the Stars dance moves.”
Gia also noted that she “would love” to appear on DWTS in the future, naming Val, Alan Bersten and Brandon Armstong as her ideal partners.
“I don’t know if I would be the best,” she added. “But, I love doing things that, you know, test my limits and test my capability of doing things.”
Dancing With the Stars premieres on ABC and Disney+ Tuesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
