DWTS' Lindsay Arnold and Sam Cusick's Relationship Timeline

Lindsay Arnold and husband Sam Cusick transformed their high school love story into a lasting marriage. The Dancing With the Stars pro and her now-husband began dating as teenagers in Salt Lake City. Cusick popped the question in December 2014 while the pair were on vacation in Africa. Less than one year later, Cusick and the So You Think You Can Dance alum tied the knot in a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ceremony in June 2015. "I've loved Sam since I was 16 years old and today I officially get to spend the rest of my life with him — through giggles and tears, and every moment in between!" the bride told Us Weekly in a statement on her wedding day. Arnold continued to compete on DWTS throughout her marriage, and Cusick was her No. 1 fan each season. After announcing that their family was expanding in May 2020, Arnold and Cusick welcomed daughter Sage in November 2020. The high school sweethearts got engaged during a visit to Africa.

Arnold and Cusick exchanged vows in their Utah hometown. DWTS pros Carson, Emma Slater and Jenna Johnson were among the bridesmaids on the special day.

The couple were all smiles as Arnold snapped a mirror selfie pre-performance.

"Ohhhhhh baby 👶 Mom and Dad love you already ❤️❤️ #November2020 #pregnant #pregnancyannouncement," the choreographer gushed via Instagram while revealing her first pregnancy.

Arnold welcomed daughter Sage via C-section. "The most beautiful surprise on this very special day," she captioned her baby's Instagram debut.

"Mom and Dad ❤️ My Best Friend," the ballroom pro wrote in a lengthy social media tribute to Cusick, sharing the "key to a happy and successful marriage" with her followers. "On top of everything else your spouse should be your best friend. ... This guy is my official bestie and I wouldn't have it any other way."

The twosome enjoyed a summer getaway to Lake Powell in southern Utah.

Cusick was all smiles for a selfie with his wife in Hawaii.

Arnold reflected on the early days of her relationship with her husband during a YouTube Q&A, revealing the pair got caught breaking into their high school football field as teens. "Sam and I made out in the press box in the rain. ... The police came and chased us," she teased.

The ABC star celebrated seven years of marriage with a sweet anniversary post. "Since day one Sam has always been my best friend and I truly believe that is what has gotten us through the challenges and ups and downs of marriage," she wrote via Instagram. "Through everything he has been the person I feel most comfortable being my true self around and the one who loves me at my best and at my worst. Grateful for our love and for the life we have created together 💕 Happy Anniversary to us 💕."

"Summer nights and country concerts are always a good combo 💕💕," Arnold captioned a photo from a Chris Stapleton concert.

The pair announced Arnold's second pregnancy with gorgeous maternity shoot photos. "We are beyond grateful and feel so blessed to be adding a new addition to our family and Sage cannot wait to be a big sister 🥹," the then-expectant star told her Instagram followers.

"She is here and healthy. Arrived this afternoon. Will share more soon," Arnold wrote via Instagram alongside a photo of her second child with Cusick. 

Arnold shared the sweetest Father’s Day tribute to Cusick, featuring several photos of their family. 

“Happy Father's Day to our favorite guy 🫶 I count my blessings every day that our girl get to have Sam as their dad 💕 he takes the best care of us girls and we are so lucky to have him 🫶,” she captioned the June 2024 Instagram post. 

Arnold opened up about why she was not wearing her wedding ring in a TikTok video posted in April 2025, assuring fans that she and Cusick were still very much in love. 

"First of all, Sam and I are coming up on 10 years of marriage, which is crazy," she said. "Time has absolutely flown by. What's even crazier is we were together for six years before getting married. So we're coming up on 16 years of being together."

Arnold shared that in honor of their 10-year anniversary, she decided it was time to upgrade her engagement ring. She said it was “always something” she and her husband talked about doing once they reached the marriage milestone despite there being “nothing wrong” with her original ring. 

"I love it so much, but it's just something that we kind of want to do!" she explained. 

Arnold continued to document her daily life via TikTok, including sharing a video after Cusick made the bed. She panned the camera toward the bed in a June 2025 video, showing that the quilt was wrinkled and there were pillows on the floor of the bedroom. 

“It just kept getting worse…😂😂,” her playful caption said. 

The top comment underneath the video said, “Your husband should file for a divorce because of this video.”

Arnold then made a subsequent video responding to the comment to shut down the divorce chatter. 

“Good news Sam still loves me 😉my recent post ruffled some serious feathers in the comments haha but happy to report that it’s possible to joke around and still love/appreciate each other 🙌🏼,” she captioned a second TikTok featuring a clip of her and Cusick smiling while driving in their car.
