Gayle King Gets Seated Next to Fox News' Jesse Watters on 4-Hour Flight

Some of Gayle King’s fans would have probably loved to be a fly on the wall during her recent flight with conservative political commentator Jesse Watters.

“Two TV people from competing networks walk on to a plane and to the surprise of them both, they’re seated right next to each other for over four hours,” King, 70, captioned a smiley photo with Watters, 47, via Instagram on Monday, October 20. “How did it go? Speaking for @jessewatters here: A good time was had by all! Hi, Jesse…saving your number!”

Watters donned a baseball cap and glasses as King, seen grinning from ear to ear, leaned in to snap the photo with her seatmate. The post certainly garnered some mixed reactions from King’s followers. Some were quick to criticize King, urging her to “read the room.”

“This is really not cute at all,” one person commented, while a second Instagram user said, “Why would you even post this?”

“I have no words,” a third person wrote, as a fourth person commented, “U still got time to delete this sis.”

“I respect and love you, Gayle. Your seat mate, however, is harming our country….” a fifth comment read.

Others were quick to come to King’s defense, praising her for putting her political differences aside with the Fox News host and sharing the post with her more than 1 million followers.

“Reminder we all have to coexist people!!! ✌🏽Showing human decency when (last time I checked), we can’t pick our own seat mates, is why you’re the best Gayle ❤️ Thanks for showing us a positive snippet of what i’m sure was a veryyyy layered convo,” one supporter wrote in the comments section.

“I think it’s great!!! Two people had a great time together and didn’t put their political beliefs in front of a friendship or flight home! That’s the way it should be! 🥰,” a second person agreed.

“I love how two people with completely opposite political views can end up sitting next to each other on a plane, share a few laughs, talk about where they’re headed, maybe even swap stories about their families — and genuinely get along. It’s a good reminder that kindness, curiosity, and a smile go a lot farther than our differences,” a third fan said, while a fourth wrote, “This is how it should be, people with different opinions and political beliefs getting on👏👏.”

King did not immediately address the discourse surrounding the post.

King currently serves as the cohost of CBS Mornings, while Watters hosts two shows on the Fox News Channel: Jesse Watters Primetime and The Five. During Monday’s broadcast of Jesse Watters Primetime, the anchor said that the flight with King was “cool.”

Watters, who has come under fire for many of his controversial remarks on TV over the years, got some heat earlier this year for comments surrounding a clip of former Vice President Kamala Harris and husband Doug Emhoff going grocery shopping.

“What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife?” Watters said about the clip during a January episode of Jesse Watters Primetime, causing many on social media to label him as “misogynistic.”

“A normal one?” one X user responded to the clip after it was shared on the social media platform, while another person wrote, “Normal human?”
