'Golden Bachelor' Finalist Cindy Previews Her Hometown Date With Mel Owens

Cindy Angelcyk Cullers is gearing up for Bachelor Nation to see Mel Owens meet her family during hometown dates on The Golden Bachelor.

“It should be wonderful to have him meet my family and my three daughters, and two son-in-laws, and to see how we can behave in Texas,” Cindy, 60, who lives in Austin, told Us Weekly exclusively at The Golden Bachelor Gal’s Brunch on Thursday, October 16.

Cindy said she was “a little nervous” for her family to meet Mel, 66, since they’re a “tough crowd.”

“I am a little hesitant,” she told Us. “I’m not hesitant for Mel to meet my kids — I’m excited. He’s going to do great with them, they will do great with him. It’s just a tough crowd and Mel better bring his A game because, right now, we seem to be competing for him but he’s going to have to bring it to show he’s worthy to be a part of our family. It’s a special group.”

As for the advice she shared with Mel leading into her hometown date, which will air on Wednesday, October 22, divorcée Cindy said she told him the names of her kids, what they do for a living and that she’s very close with them.

“After that, he’s on his own,” she stated. “It’s time to swim or sink. And, I believe in Mel. We’ve got great chemistry. He makes everybody feel super important in his presence — it’s one of his gifts. So I know if he’s true to himself, it’ll go great.”

Cindy said she’s hopeful Mel can “break open” a bit and be more forthcoming with her and the other remaining women, Peg Munson and Debbie Siebers.

“We know he can bring a lot, but can she bring it all?” Cindy questioned when asked if Mel gets down on one knee in the end.

She also spoke about fellow contestant Carol Freeman’s decision to break up with Mel in this week’s episode, telling Us, “It was really tough to see her go, but I’m proud that she is aware enough and knows that this isn’t just Mel’s choice, it’s our choice too.”

As for how Cindy reacted to being in the final three with Peg, 62, and Debbie, 65, she said she’s feeling “great.”

“I’m on that short list. That very, very short list,” Cindy said. “As you see the episodes develop, I think you start seeing the chemistry. So I’m thrilled that he’s feeling it too.”

Cindy, Peg and Debbie will introduce Mel to their families on the next episode of the dating series before the final two are chosen to vie for a possible engagement ring.

Can divorced father-of-two Mel let his guard down and find his perfect match? We’ll have to wait and see.
