Marty Supreme has an all-star lineup.
The sports comedy helmed by Josh Safdie stars Timothée Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a man training to become a ping-pong player and bring the sport to new heights in the 1950s. According to the film’s official synopsis, Marty is “a young man with a dream that no one respects” who “will go to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.”
The film is a fictional comedy loosely based on the life of professional table tennis player Marty Reisman.
Chalamet is joined by Fran Drescher, who plays Marty’s mother, while Gwyneth Paltrow plays Carol Dunne. Ahead of the movie’s release, Paltrow and Chalamet were photographed sharing a smooch while dressed up as their respective characters. The actress later teased that she and Chalamet filmed more than kissing scenes.
“I mean, we have a lot of sex in this movie,” Paltrow said in a March interview with Vanity Fair. “There’s a lot — a lot.”
Marty Supreme also features Odessa A’zion, Tyler, the Creator, Kevin O’Leary, Penn Jillette and more. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25.
