Sabrina Carpenter stole the show with her daring look at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

The singer, 26, turned heads as she walked the red carpet ahead of the Sunday, September 7, awards show at UBS Arena in New York.

Carpenter stunned in a red, long-sleeved dress made of lace. The gown’s floral embellishment included sequins, which left her sparkling on the red carpet.  She completed the look with a lavender fuzzy boa. Her hair was styled down in her signature voluminous curls.

Carpenter is nominated for eight VMAs, including Video of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Visual Effects for “Manchild,” Best Album for Short n’ Sweet and Best Pop Artist. She is also scheduled to perform during the ceremony.

Carpenter won her first VMA in September 2024 when she took home Song of the Year for “Espresso.” She also performed at the awards show for the first time last year, singing a medley of her hits “Please Please Please,” “Taste” and “Espresso.”

Ahead of the 2025 VMAs, Carpenter released her new album, Man’s Best Friend, on August 29, which features her June single, “Manchild.”

“I didn’t plan on releasing a new record however when inspiration strikes, I go to the studio, and when it doesn’t, I still go to the studio,” she wrote of the album in a June email to fans. “But luckily life was really happening to me and inspiration struck!”

She added: “I tried not to overthink the process this time, I felt so at ease making Man’s Best Friend that I felt like it was a gift that shouldn’t be taken for granted as every inch came together so effortlessly, where I’d bang my head to crack numerous codes. This one felt like riding a bike!”

Shortly after the album announcement, Carpenter fired back at critics of her music’s sexy content in her Rolling Stone cover story.

“It’s always so funny to me when people complain,” she said in the profile published in June. “They’re like, ‘All she does is sing about this.’ But those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly you love sex. You’re obsessed with it.”

Later that month, Carpenter responded to backlash she received for her Man’s Best Friend cover artwork, which showed her on all fours as a man pulled her hair.

“Does she have a personality outside of sex?” one X user asked in June.

Carpenter reacted to the barb with her signature humor, replying, “Girl yes and it is goooooood.”
