Sharon Osbourne is paying tribute to her beloved dog, Elvis, months after the death of her husband, Ozzy Osbourne.
“I can’t believe I am posting this but my darling Elvis passed away this week. He gave me 14 precious year[s]. He was by my side until the end. Rest in peace my darling boy! 💔,” Sharon, 73, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, October 19.
Alongside the message, Sharon shared a series of photos of Elvis through the years. In one pic, Elvis could be seen laying on Ozzy’s chest, while in another image she and her late husband were all smiles while posing with the dog.
Sharon and Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne also mourned Elvis’ loss in a separate post. (The couple also shared Aimee, 42, and Jack, 39. Ozzy was also dad to Jessica and Louis, whom he welcomed with Thelma Riley. He also adopted son Elliot, 59, whom Riley welcomed in a previous relationship.)
“It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that we lost Elvis this week,” Kelly, 40, wrote via Instagram on Sunday. “Our guardian angel has left us. Elvis did not leave my side since my dad passed. He helped get me through the darkest moment of my life. I keep trying to find a positive in all of this and the only thing I can come up with is that maybe my dad needed him.”
Kelly continued, “Life can be so cruel but also give you many treasures. We were so lucky to have Elvis for 14 years. Thank you for all the love Elvis you were on[e] of a kind. I love you 💔 sleep well sweet prince until we meet again!”
News broke in July that Osbourne died at age 76.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” read a statement from his family. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
In September, Sharon broke her silence on the legendary rocker’s death.
“I’m still having trouble finding the words to express how grateful I am for the overwhelming love and support you’ve shown on social media. Your comments, posts, and tributes have brought me more comfort than you know. None of it has gone unnoticed, in fact, it’s carried me through many nights,” Sharon wrote via Instagram at the time, alongside a video of her and Kelly spending time with an owl.
She continued, “Though I’m still finding my footing, I wanted to share some glorious creatures I had the chance to spend an afternoon with. The connection you make with these powerful birds is built entirely on trust and confidence. They’ll choose to perch on you only if they sense you are safe and unafraid of them. It’s a bond I know all too well, and the experience was nothing short of magical.”
Sharon concluded, “I love you all, and I thank you deeply for the otherworldly amount of love you continue to send my way.”
