Move over Tradwife, a new TikTok trend has taken over the platform: Princess Treatment.
“Anything really, you’re just waiting for your husband to do it,” influencer Courtney Palmer explained in a June TikTok. “It’s not because you can’t. It’s not because you’re not able to. It’s not because you’re better than anybody. It’s just the fun part of being that princess, of being that feminine wife and letting your husband take care of you.”
She continued, “You’re already having to do so much. Your brain is already constantly on as a housewife, stay at home mom. You’re running and managing so much. In those fun little moments, it’s really just so lovely to let your husband do that for you.”
The trend boils down to this: letting the husband lead. Palmer noted that these moments with her husband make her feel “special” and “over the top taken care of.” While laying out the guidelines for Princess Treatment, Palmer shared that sometimes people are confused by the trend in public.
“Here in Salt Lake, they don’t quite get it. I think they think that I’m being oppressed,” she said. “I don’t know.”

What Are Do’s and Don’ts of the ‘Princess Treatment’?
Palmer noted that women abiding by the Princess Treatment should not want the attention on them.
“You’re not going to be laughing loudly, speaking loudly, demanding the attention of the room when you’re at a restaurant. You’re with your husband, boyfriend, whoever, fiance, you’re speaking to him, eye contact with him. The attention is kind of on him,” she said. “You’re not laughing so loudly that everyone in the room is looking at you or speaking so loudly that everyone in the room is looking toward you.”
What Does the ‘Princess Treatment’ Look Like at a Restaurant?
When dining out, Palmer noted that she does not speak to the hostess, open doors and order her own food. Palmer shared that it’s about letting a partner be “masculine” with the assumption that they made the reservation and can deal with the “logistics” now.
Palmer advised there should also be no hesitations when sitting down. “You take the napkin, put it in your lap immediately. You’re not waiting. You’re not [saying], ‘Oh, sorry,’” she said.

When it comes to ordering, Palmer noted that the significant other should speak up. “If the waiter addresses you first, I will simply just look at my husband and then my husband will order,” she said. “You don’t need to over speak, overexert yourself. You can be feminine and soft and quiet. The most elegant, lovely women are often soft spoken and don’t over speak. They’re not loud.”
If there is a coatcheck, Palmer shared that there’s nothing different: the Princess Treatment means the significant other can take off your jacket.
What About the Backlash to the ‘Princess Treatment’?
Palmer admitted in her video that she knew this trend would be “ripped apart,” adding, “People just take things seriously, such the wrong way.” After the video was shared — and reached more than 5 million views, Palmer told The New York Times on Tuesday, July 1, that the response to her TikTok had been “blindsiding.”
