Sister Wives star Christine Brown lost trust in Robyn Brown after her and Kody Brown’s daughter Truely was hospitalized in 2013.
Christine, 53, wrote in her newly published memoir, Sister Wife: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Finding Freedom, that she was “out of town” shopping for commitment ceremony dresses when her daughter Aspyn called to tell her that Truely was sick.
She called her then-husband, Kody, now 56, but he didn’t go help Truely.
“The girls are there. They can take care of it,” Christine claimed Kody told her in the book released on Tuesday, September 2. “I have a lot to take care of at Robyn’s house.”
Once she returned home, Truely was still sick. After going to urgent care, Christine was urged to take Truely, who was 3 at the time, “to the ER immediately” because she was “in kidney failure.” The toddler spent 11 days in the hospital.
Christine shares Truley, now 15, with ex-husband Kody, whom she split from in November 2021 after more than 25 years of spiritual marriage. The former couple are also the parents of daughters Aspyn, 27, Mykelti, 26, Gwendlyn, 21, Ysabel, 19, and son Paedon, 24.
Christine wrote that following Truely’s health issue, she confided in Robyn, who is the only sister wife still married to Kody. (Sister Wives, which premiered in 2010, followed Kody’s polygamous family with Christine and Robyn, along with exes Meri Brown and Janelle Brown.)
“‘If Truely had died, I would have left Kody,’ I said [to Robyn],” Christine wrote. “‘Because she didn’t matter to him. Because he was more focused on doing laundry at your house than helping our daughter.’”
She added, “Kody wasn’t there for Truely, he wasn’t there for me and he wasn’t there for his oldest daughters who he left to deal with a scary situation.”
According to Christine, Robyn, now 46, told Kody what she had said. He “got mad” at Christine for discussing the situation with Robyn “rather than apologizing for not being there when we needed him.”
Christine wrote that this was the “last time” she “opened up” to Robyn about any situation.
“I felt she betrayed my trust by telling Kody something I said in confidence,” she added.
Christine also offered insight into Kody and Robyn’s relationship in her book. (Kody started courting Robyn while Christine was pregnant with Truely.)
“A camera crew followed Kody leaving that day, too. He rushed home to Robyn,” Christine read while recording the audiobook in an Instagram video posted in July. “He needed to check in on, I don’t know, the kids [or] her feelings about my labor.”
Christine announced her split from Kody via Instagram in November 2021.
“After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave,” her statement read at the time. “We will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives as we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family.”
Kody’s relationships with Meri and Janelle ended the following year. Christine married husband David Woolley in 2023.
