Why Lindsie Chrisley’s Last Name Change ‘Isn’t Surprising' to Family

Lindsie Chrisley stunned fans with a new name on social media — but her family is not shocked.

“There hasn’t been a real relationship in a long time, so the name change isn’t surprising. The timing just feels more calculated than heartfelt,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. “A lot of pain has been caused over the years, and the space between them has brought a sense of peace the family had not felt in a long time.”

The insider added, “This only confirms that distance is what’s healthiest. If this helps her feel more in control or seen, that is her decision, and the family has made peace with the way things are.”

The 35-year-old daughter of Todd Chrisley cleared the air on the Wednesday, July 16, episode of “The Southern Tea” podcast, less than one week after changing her Instagram name to Lindsie Landsman.

“Over the last week, a lot of people — and by a lot of people, more people than I ever even imagined — noticed that what I thought was quietly changing my last name on Instagram from Chrisley to Landsman was a quiet movement for me,” Lindsie said on Wednesday. “I did know when people eventually saw it, that it would raise questions, but how quickly people saw it was not something that I was necessarily prepared for.”

Lindsie admitted that she “battled” with her last name because of the “public association” and “assumptions” that went along with it.

“I do think it’s fair to say that, contrary to what some people believe, the Chrisley last name — while it did start with Chrisley Knows Best — and we all collectively were doing that project together, or outside of that, that last name did not create income or opportunity for me,” she continued. “In fact, it became very problematic with me being associated in any capacity in business, and has been problematic for projects that I have done post Chrisley Knows Best and have been asked to go by another name altogether.”

Lindsie was previously married to ex-husband Will Campbell. She detailed her decision to go from Campbell back to Chrisley after her divorce, noting that the moniker felt like it was “no longer mine” following the split.

Earlier this month, Lindsie shared a series of black-and-white pics confirming her new relationship. In one image, the couple kissed as they turned away from the camera while walking on a beach. Other snaps featured Lindsie and her son, Jackson, whom she shares with Campbell.

“A little preoccupied 🤍,” Lindsie captioned the slideshow.

While she tagged the location as Ponte Vedra, Florida, her mystery man was not identified. Fans discovered, however, that Lindsie follows an entrepreneur named David Landsman. Lindsie wore a white dress in the photos, quickly causing social media users to wonder whether the shoot was celebrating an engagement or wedding. (Us Weekly previously reached out for comment.)

“Specifically, in regards to choosing to change my last name to Landsman is not a long and drawn out situation. It truly was a decision that I made about reclaiming my peace and stepping into my future that is defined by love, growth over the past couple of years and just forward movement,” Lindsie said during Wednesday’s podcast. “The big question is, is David and I married, and we are not married.”

She continued, “I feel that it is fair to say that he and I built a safe and loving relationship that allows for stability in my life and in Jackson’s life. And in this chapter, that name feels like home to me. It has nothing to do with erasing my past. It is all about choosing my future and protecting the people that I love most while doing so. And it felt like it was the right thing to do.”

Months earlier, Landsman posted a sweet selfie with Lindsie at a Savannah Bananas baseball game in April. “Such a great weekend. Except it was my time of the month 😥,” he joked in the caption. “The Savannah Bananas are amazing!! If you ever get a chance to go see them, do it!”

Lindsie played along in the comments section, replying, “Rude.”

The former Chrisley Knows Best star married Campbell in 2012 after three years of dating. In 2021, she announced their split. The exes finalized their divorce that same year. Lindsie hinted in the summer of 2023 that both she and Campbell had moved on. She later debuted her relationship with then-boyfriend Trent, but the pair split in 2024.
