Andy Cohen Makes Hilarious ‘And Just Like That’ Cameo in Nod to OG Series

Andy Cohen’s friendship with Sarah Jessica Parker has now transferred to the fictional universe of And Just Like That.

Cohen, 57, makes a surprise appearance during the Thursday, July 24, episode of the Sex and the City spinoff as a clerk at Carrie’s favorite department store, where she seeks refuge after an argument with Aidan (John Corbett). While Carrie browses the shoe selection, Cohen speed walks his way to help another customer, telling Carrie he’s “slammed.” Carrie, however, insists she’s just looking.

Carrie then gets a text from Aidan asking to meet for lunch and talk out their issues. Earlier in the episode, Carrie caught Aidan sitting in the garden with her new downstairs neighbor, Duncan (Jonathan Cake), and grilling him about his personal life. According to Carrie, she had set a clear boundary and asked Aidan not to intrude — but he did so against her wishes.

When the pair meet up, their conversation takes a sharp turn. It ends with Carrie walking away and Aidan chasing after her, only for them to call off their romance.

“I really thought we were gonna make it this time,” Aidan says with tears in his eyes.

Thursday’s episode isn’t the first time Cohen has made an appearance in the SATC world. He previously played a shoe salesman during season 6 of the original series, but he’s also reminded fans of another blink-and-you-might-miss-it cameo he made in an earlier season.

In 2018, Cohen shared a screenshot via Instagram of himself next to Parker as Carrie in his SATC debut. “You may know that I was a Barney’s shoe salesman in the last season of #SATC but were you aware I appeared in Season 4 (I think) shirtless in a gay bar standing next to Carrie Bradshaw? (Sounds about right!!) The shot is cut out of the TV version and now only lives on DVD & Amazon,” he wrote in the caption, adding #TBT.

Off camera, Cohen and Parker have a close friendship. The actress recently appeared on Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, where he tried to coax her into spilling secrets about Carrie’s AJLT story line — including her still unfurnished apartment in Gramercy Park.

“My theory is she likes the old place better,” Cohen said earlier this month, earning a shrug from Parker. “Oh, my God, is she moving back into the old place?”

Parker played coy, teasing, “I dunno. Maybe.”

She took a similar approach when asked whether she thought Carrie and Aidan were in it until the end. “My lawyer has advised me not to answer that question,” she joked, pretending to speak into a microphone.

And Just Like That airs on HBO Max Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
