Anna Faris and Regina Hall to Return for ‘Scary Movie 6’

Brenda Meeks and Cindy Campbell are making a comeback.

Regina Hall and Anna Faris are set to return to the Scary Movie universe for the series’ sixth installment, the pair announced on Friday, August 15.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.),” they said in a joint statement.

Scary Movie 6 won’t just be a reunion for Hall, 54, and Faris, 48. It will also mark the return of the Wayans Brothers, who wrote the first two films, released in 2000 and 2001, respectively. Spoof film extraordinaire Michael Tiddes will direct the movie while Marlon, Shawn and Keenan Ivory Wayans will team up with Rick Alvarez to write the script.

Marlon, 53, first announced in October 2024 that the trio would return to the franchise.

“Last week i said i had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is… WE’RE BACK!!!” he wrote via his social media accounts at the time.

The first Scary Movie, which parodied the Scream franchise, among other ‘90s horror movies, was a box office smash, grossing $278 million on a $19 million budget. Its sequels then took aim at horror hits like The Haunting, Signs, The Ring and Mama.

Faris, for her part, credited Scary Movie with shaping her career as a comedic actress in an interview with Us Weekly, published in March.

“When I got cast in the first Scary Movie, I mean, I was shocked. I’d never thought I would be able to make a living as an actor. It felt like the most impractical choice I could make, but I had never done comedy before,” she said. “I was never a comedic person, and now I can’t seem to get out of comedy. And so I think I’ve really embraced and appreciated, and there’s personal liberation that comes with nurturing comedic growth.”

But that didn’t necessarily mean Faris was always guaranteed to return to the films. She talked about what it would take for her to make a Scary Movie comeback in an interview with People published in July 2024.

“I would love to work with Regina again,” she said. “I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!”

Hall and Faris have appeared in four out of the five installments in the series, despite Hall’s character dying in the third movie — these are spoofs, after all. Neither appeared in Scary Movie 5, which instead starred Ashley Tisdale and Simon Rex.

Scary Movie 6 is scheduled for a June 12, 2026 release.
