'Dawson’s Creek’ Home Hits Market for $3.2 Million in North Carolina

The famed home of Dawson Leery is passing the torch to a new owner — hopefully.

The Wilmington, North Carolina, home has been listed for $3,250,000 and includes four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The 2,465 square foot house sits on 1.7 acres.

“Its white façade, wide porch, and familiar dock became central to the show’s story, an instantly recognizable symbol of coastal life and coming-of-age nostalgia,” the listing read.

The property was heavily featured on Dawson’s Creek, which centered around aspiring filmmaker Dawson (James Van Der Beek) and his tight-knight group of friends Pacey (Joshua Jackson), Joey (Katie Holmes) and Jen (Michelle Williams).

Offscreen, the home has been owned by the family of artists The Tremaine Twins since the 19th century.

“Our #home has always remained in the family since it was built in 1880. Our Mom, Margaret was here for all of the years of the filming of #DawsonsCreek and she was dearly loved by all of the cast and crew and her love was reflected in the series. That is why her house was the true star of the wildly popular show. ⭐️,” they wrote in an Instagram post announcing the sale.

The post continued, “All of her relatives, past and present, who have lived here have been loving families and have filled this magical house with love. The house has always been bursting with music and art too. Margaret was a wonderful musician and an accomplished artist and her children inherited her loving ways, music and art ✨.”

The statement noted that Margaret died recently and the family is “heartbroken to leave.”

“We hope that our home will pass on to people who will cherish it. This is a strong fortress, having been framed from massive hand hewed timbers recovered from ship wrecked vessels on the #IntracoastalWaterway close by,” the post read. “The house has remained safe from hurricanes and whatever nature could throw at her for nearly 150 years. She started out as a Summer home and was one of the first homes built on #HewlettsCreek; and is now the oldest home here on what we call #TheSound (Greenville Sound.)”

The Leery family home hitting the market comes months after Joey’s BnB went up for auction. While the home itself was for sale, the land it was set on wasn’t — and the house was moved from one side of the property to the other years before.

“The house MUST be moved from its current location,” the listing read at the time. “The land is NOT included in the sale. The winning bidder will be responsible for all costs and logistics associated with relocating the structure.”

The winner of the auction was not announced at the time.

Nearly three decades after the premiere, several cast members reunited for a charity event amid Van Der Beek’s stage 3 colorectal cancer battle. Van Der Beek, for his part, revealed hours before that he would no longer be in attendance while fighting “two stomach viruses.” Van Der Beek’s onscreen mom, Mary-Margaret Humes, however, made sure to be there.

“The first phone call I got was from James himself,” Humes exclusively shared in Us Weekly’s September cover story. “He told me that Michelle was spearheading this, and it was a way for us to actually have a reunion, all of us together, and celebrate James’ life. Because he’s dealing with a very difficult situation; very optimistic, but a difficult situation. Together as a TV family, we just thought we needed to be there for him and rally around him.”
