The Summer I Turned Pretty has made a statement by using Taylor Swift's discography to highlight pivotal moments throughout the seasons. Viewers — and longtime fans of the original book series — were in for a fun surprise when season 1 introduced Belly (Lola Tung)'s crush on Conrad (Christopher Briney) with the help of Swift's iconic "Lover" track. Creator Jenny Han later opened up about how the show's fanbase influenced the soundtrack. “I think for me just as a fan, to be able to give the book fans that moment is what is really meaningful to me, because if you're a fan of The Summer I Turned Pretty, I'm pretty sure you're a fan of Taylor Swift," Han told The Wrap in June 2022. "And I know this because so many fans have asked me to put her music on the show and I just never knew if we were going to be able to or not. So when we were, I just, I couldn't believe it. That's probably the most excited I've been in the whole process and the fact that we got like five total, which I'm really excited for the fans to see, because it will be like, I think maybe unexpected at times at certain big moments." Season 2 of the hit Prime Video series, which premiered in July 2023, upped the ante with nearly twice as many Swift songs. "S1 we got FIVE Taylor Swift songs on the show… how many do you think we got in S2? 🤭 Guess which ones before the show drops on 7/14! #thesummeriturnedpretty #taylorswift," Han wrote via Instagram at the time. During the series premiere, Swift's upbeat track could be heard in the background as Belly and Taylor (Rain Spencer) talk about her plans to return to Cousin's Beach.

Conrad coming to Belly's rescue at the ball scene was highlighted with the use of Swift's "The Way I Loved You."

The emotion during Belly and Conrad's first kiss was heightened with a rerecorded track from Swift's 1989 album. The song was reused in the season 2 premiere.

A song from the Folklore album served as a backdrop during Prime Video's first look at Belly and Conrad's growing love story in a season 2 sneak peek. 

The rise and fall of Belly and Conrad's romance — and her subsequent feelings for Jeremiah — were at the center of the season 2 trailer. Fans also got a surprise with Swift's rerecorded song from Speak Now.

During season 2, Belly was looking through memories on her phone with Conrad and his family as "Last Kiss (Taylor’s Version)" played in the background.

Belly and Conrad's winter trip to Cousin's Beach was accentuated with a romantic melody from Swift's Folklore album.

Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty introduced Steven's (Sean Kaufman) ringtone as "Hey Stephen" from Swift's rerecorded Fearless album. The detail was a throwback to the book series, which originally mentioned the music moment.

A flashback of Belly and Conrad at an amusement park as kids got more angsty thanks to a song from the Midnights album.

A snippet of the Reputation track was used in a season 2 scene between Belly and Jeremiah.

The Summer I Turned Pretty used "Snow on the Beach" as a way to highlight several scenes, including Belly's emotional spiral at Cousins Beach after she found herself caught between Jeremiah and Conrad. Meanwhile, Steven and Taylor finally shared a kiss after growing closer over the summer.

The Summer I Turned Pretty season 2 played the Midnights song during Belly's last scene with Susannah. Before her death, Susannah promised Belly that she would be able to repair her respective bonds with Conrad and Jeremiah.

During the season 2 finale, Swift's Folklore track heightened the emotion as Belly and Conrad parted ways at the motel. Conrad's inner turmoil played out on screen after he decided to let Belly go so she could be with Jeremiah.

Swift’s 2022 track was used during the season 3 premiere when Belly found out that Jeremiah, her boyfriend of four years, had cheated on her in Mexico when he thought they were on a break from their relationship.

Belly and Conrad shared a moment in season 3 after he got injured and she tended to his wound as Swift's "False God" played in the background. 

A track off The Tortured Poets Department was used for a Conrad and Belly flashback scene.

After Conrad confessed his love to Belly (days before her wedding to Jeremiah), the pair were left with Swift's "Loml" as the backdrop for their heartbreak.

Swift's Cardigan set the scene as Belly and Jeremiah's wedding came to an end in season 3. There was also the use of Gracie Abrams' "us," which Swift was featured on.
