Colleen Hoover’s back with another book adaptation following the never-ending It Ends With Us drama.
The author’s 2019 novel Regretting You is getting the Hollywood treatment, and it has a pretty stacked cast. It was announced in August 2024 that Allison Williams would be starring in the adaptation. From there, more casting announcements were made — and things got more star-studded (but more on that in a second).
Regretting You — both the book and movie — follow the story of Morgan Grant and her 16-year-old daughter, Clara, who are very different. While Morgan is trying to prevent her teen from her past mistakes (getting married and having a baby too young), Clara actively clashes with her mom. After Morgan’s husband, Chris, dies in a sudden accident, she finds comfort in the person she least expected to.
“I think we try to keep as close to the book as possible,” the movie’s producer Flavia Viotti told Entertainment Weekly in July 2025. “We know Colleen Hoover has a strong fan base, and we don’t want to disappoint them. But I don’t think fans will be disappointed.”

Who Is Starring in ‘Regretting You’ — And Who Are They Playing?
Williams will take on the role of Morgan, while Scott Eastwood is set to appear as her husband, Chris.
Eastwood told EW in July 2025 that his character “is kind of just like a beer-drinking dude, which I like because I can relate to, because I am a beer-drinking dude.”
Dave Franco will appear as Jonah, who becomes Morgan’s love interest after the loss of her husband. (Jonah is also the boyfriend of Morgan’s sister, Jenny, played by Willa Fitzgerald.)
Franco referred to Jonah as “pretty pure-hearted and to a fault sometimes — he is always trying to do the right thing, even if it goes against what his heart is telling him” during the same EW interview.
The cast is rounded out with McKenna Grace as Clara and Mason Thames as Miller, her love interest.
