Teddi Mellencamp Shuts Down Comparisons to Other 'Housewives' Break-Ins

Teddi Mellencamp believes the recent attempted burglary at her family’s house has no connection to robberies at other Real Housewives stars’ homes.

“People are like, ‘Oh, you’re just like So-and-So and So-and-So, who used to be on Housewives.’ I’m like, ‘We weren’t robbed,’” Mellencamp, 44, said on the Wednesday, July 23, episode of her “Two T’s in a Pod” podcast. “Somebody attempted to come into our home. Who knows what would have happened?”

She added, “I think saying that even [saying that comment] in passing, it’s hurtful. Like, we’re all scared.”

Mellencamp revealed one day earlier that her shared home with estranged husband Edwin Arroyave was targeted by attempted burglars.

“We are grateful that everyone is unharmed,” Mellencamp and Arroyave, 48, said in a joint statement to Us Weekly. “While we are shaken, we are fortunate to have the latest in home security systems, which scared off the intruders. Authorities were alerted and swiftly responded. We appreciate everyone’s heightened concern in light of recent criminal activities in our area, but we are safe.”

Mellencamp and Arroyave, who separated in November 2024, still live in the same house to coparent their three children while the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star recovers from cancer treatment. (Mellencamp had multiple brain tumors surgically removed earlier this year.)

While addressing the incident on her podcast, Mellencamp explained how her entire family was “shaken up” by the intruders’ presence.

“A week or two ago, there was a couple who lived, kind of, nearby me, who were murdered in their home,” she recalled. “They were not home, and they arrived home and then were murdered by somebody who was breaking and entering into their house. So, everybody in the area where I live [have] all been pretty diligent about making sure we’re on top of it because this area is being hit more than most.”

She continued, “Thankfully, we’re all safe and good, but we’re shaken up around here. It’s scary, and even watching the videos … it looked like it was three guys. I think that they broke into the house two houses down, as well.”

Mellencamp and Arroyave’s home alarm subsequently went off, alerting both the security company and the local police department. The presumed robbers fled the scene before law enforcement and security officials were dispatched to the scene, and confirmed the premises were clear.

Before the attempted break-in at Mellencamp’s place, other Bravo stars, including Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley, had been victims of unrelated burglaries.
