Todd Chrisley Says It’s ‘Heartbreaking’ Watching His Kids Fight on New Show

Todd Chrisley does not want to see his children fighting amongst each other.

“I want everybody to get along,” Todd, 56, exclusively shared with Us Weekly before The Chrisleys: Back to Reality premieres on Lifetime Monday, September 1. “I don’t want — contrary to the world’s belief — I do not love this child [Savannah] more than I love her brother [Chase], nor do I love Grayson more than I love her [Savannah]. I would lay down and die for any of them today.”

At the same time, Todd joked that he “would prefer they not kill me with anxiety.”

“Let me die naturally,” he added. “But, I just think that it’s sad to see your children fight, and especially when it’s Chase and Savannah or Grayson. That is heartbreaking.”

In the trailer for Lifetime’s new docuseries, siblings Savannah, 28, and Chase, 29, appear not to be as close as they navigate life with their parents behind bars.

“Chase is not Chase. It’s literally, like, a blank shell,” Savannah said in the trailer as she tried to hold back tears. “There’s a part of me that is so afraid he’s going to die. I literally don’t even want to try to have a relationship with him.”

In the premiere episode, Savannah also admits to being on “rocky terms” with Chase despite being “best friends” growing up.

When watching The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, Julie Chrisley said she didn’t like seeing her kids divided.

“You take the television out of it, we are parents,” she explained to Us. “We are a mother and a father who love their children with everything that we have, and so anytime that your children are not in a good place, I have always said that I’m only as happy as my saddest child, and that is something that I truly, truly live by and believe in.”

In a separate sneak peek of the premiere episode released by Lifetime, Chase asked Savannah whether she had any updates in regards to her parents possibly being pardoned.

After staying mum on any major news, Savannah revealed in a confessional that she didn’t feel comfortable telling her older brother every update.

“We all say in our family, ‘If you want the world to know, tell Chase,’” she said. “You can’t trust that they’ll keep their mouths shut. You can’t trust that they’re not gonna say or do something that’s gonna put the pardons in jeopardy. And at this point, I’m not willing to risk that. I’ve worked too hard for the past two and a half years for these pardons to happen, and I refuse to let someone else screw it up.”

On May 27, Todd and Julie, 52, were pardoned by President Donald Trump in their ongoing bank fraud and tax evasion case.

The couple were first indicted in 2019 on charges of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud and conspiracy. In January 2023, the couple reported to prison to serve a combined 19-year sentence after being found guilty. (Both parties have maintained their innocence.)

As Lifetime cameras document the Chrisley’s reality before and after Todd and Julie’s pardons, both parents continue to hope that their family can get along.

“It is sad when I see them not in a good place, whether individually or collectively or their relationship with each other,” Julie said. “As a mother, I just hope they can start to rebuild, and they can start to define a common ground. They’re adults now, so it’s on them at this point, for sure.”

The Chrisleys: Back to Reality premieres on Lifetime Monday, September 1, at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
