Tristan Thompson’s son Prince is thrilled to be a third grader.
Thompson, 34, took Prince, 8, to school on his first day of third grade in a rare video shared via the basketball star’s Instagram account on Wednesday, August 13. The video first showed Thompson letting Prince ride in the passenger’s seat of his car before cutting to a clip of the father-son duo strolling down a sidewalk together.
“You heading to school?” Thompson asked Prince, whom he shares with ex Jordan Craig. “There you go, big third grade. What are you most excited about third grade?”
Prince responded, “Getting a Chromebook because you can bring them home and bring them to school.”
When asked what else he’s excited about, Prince said, “You can get prizes in third grade.”
In another clip, Prince excitedly ran up the steps to his school.
Fans in the comments section sent well-wishes to Prince for the new school year.
“Go crush it Prince!” one user wrote, while another person added, “Have fun at school 👩🏫🎒🏫.”
Others praised Thompson for being a good dad.
“Awesome Dad! Keep up the great work 👍 👏 💛💛,” a third fan commented.
“Proud of you TT❤️🙌,” another user wrote.
In addition to Prince, Thompson shares daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 3, with Khloé Kardashian, as well as son Theo, 3, with Maralee Nichols.
The video came weeks after Thompson posted photos of Tatum, True and Prince at Tatum’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse–themed 3rd birthday party. Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s daughter, Dream, 8, was also in the snaps.
“Big hugs and kisses for my little Tatum’s Bday! I Love you forever young king 🤴 ❤️🎈,” Thompson captioned the post. “This just the beginning more pics to come 🤫.”
The post also included photos of Tatum enjoying some birthday cake while Prince smiled at the camera.
The party featured a balloon archway that greeted guests with a banner reading, “Tatum’s Clubhouse.” Additional balloon arches hung above the pool, while several tubes floated in the water. Several Disney characters, including Donald Duck and Daisy Duck, attended the event.
“My kids, nieces and nephews party the hardest. LFG!!! 🎉🥳🎈🎊,” Thompson captioned a set of videos from the soiree.
More recently, Thompson has shared videos of himself spending time with True and Dream. In an August 2 video, he and his only daughter danced to the Kidz Bop version of Bruno Mars and Rosé’s “Apt.”
“Just out here dancing through the weekend with my twinny 👧🏽💗🤞🏾,” Thompson wrote.
Meanwhile, in a video on August 9, Thompson took True and Dream out for ice cream after picking them up from summer camp.
While Thompson is having a blast raising his kids, he previously admitted to having fears that his kids would be “embarrassed” by some of the choices he’s made in life.
“It wasn’t until I really had to look at myself. I never had to hold myself accountable. We’re taught, ‘Be the man, do what you please, bros before hoes … ‘” Thompson said in a 2023 episode of The Kardashians. “You gotta just be your own man and don’t care what people think and don’t feel like you have to get validation from others.”
He continued, “True is understanding stuff and Prince understands things where they go to school and they have classmates. The last thing I ever want them to do is feel embarrassed that I’m their father. I think going down this journey that I’ve been on, especially with losing my mom, I always ask myself, ‘Why do certain things to hurt certain people?'”
