Brittany Mahomes has seemingly shared her thoughts on Charlie Kirk’s death.
Mahomes, 30, took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, September 11, to repost a cryptic message about hate.
“Hate will not get us out of this mess,” the post read. “Your feelings might lie and try to tell you otherwise, but hate doesn’t know how to heal or build, only how to harm or destroy.”
Author Sharon McMahon, the message’s original poster, added in the caption, “History is littered with proof: hate burns everything it touches. It devours communities, nations, and the people who wield it. If we want a story with a different ending, we have to choose a new path.”
While the post did not mention Kirk by name, it came one day after the conservative political activist was shot and killed while speaking at an event at Utah Valley University. He was 31.
Many celebrities have since reacted to Kirk’s death, including Chris Pratt, Jimmy Kimmel and more.
“Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country,” Pratt, 46, wrote via X. “We need God’s grace. God help us.”
“Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” Kimmel, 57, wrote via Instagram. “On behalf of my family, we send love to the kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”
“Political violence has no place in this country. We must condemn this horrifying attack,” democratic senator Bernie Sanders shared via X. “My thoughts are with Charlie Kirk and his family.”
Video circulating on social media showed a bullet appear to hit Kirk while he was addressing an audience member’s question about gun violence at the event on Wednesday, September 10. The suspect fired one shot from approximately 200 yards away, CNN reported.
The Turning Point USA founder was rushed to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we, the Turning Point USA leadership team, write to notify you that early this afternoon, Charlie went to his eternal reward with Jesus Christ in Heaven,” a statement from Turning Point read on Wednesday evening.
President Donald Trump also shared a post about Kirk’s death via Truth Social.
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” he wrote. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
Kirk is survived by wife Erika Kirk (née Frantzve) and their children, a 3-year-old daughter and a 15-month-old son.
On Friday, September 12, Trump, 79, revealed that Kirk’s shooter had been taken into custody. The shooter was later identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a law enforcement official confirmed, per The Associated Press.
“Essentially, somebody that was very close to him turned him in,” Trump said during a Fox News appearance. “We had very good pictures but not great, not perfect. Somebody that was very close to him said, ‘Hm, that’s him.’”
