Cardi B set the internet ablaze with her fiery new red hair while promoting “The Courtroom Edition” of her upcoming album, Am I The Drama?
The Grammy-winning rapper, 32, debuted her latest mane change in a new video posted via Instagram on Thursday, September 4, rocking a deep cherry colored wig, a Bride of Chucky T-shirt and black shorts.
“Donate to an angel for just the price of 9.99 … Link in bio if you want to go to heaven,” she captioned the clip, showing off her deluxe album cover which featured Cardi’s myriad of expressions while taking the stand in her now-famous blonde wig from her testimony.
Earlier this week, a Los Angeles jury ultimately found Cardi not liable in a civil assault trial brought forth by security guard Emani Ellis, who accused the lyricist of assault.
Ellis alleged that Cardi assaulted her outside of a Beverly Hills medical office in 2018, claiming the performer — who was then four months pregnant with baby No. 1 — cut her cheek with a fingernail, used racial slurs and spit on her face. (Cardi shares daughters Kulture and Blossom, born in 2018 and 2024, respectively, and son Wave, born in 2021, with ex-husband Offset.)
Cardi, on the other hand, accused Ellis of being the instigator and alleged that the plaintiff followed her down the hallways at the doctor’s office and tried to record her without her consent.
When being cross-examined on August 27, the rap star was asked why she was concerned on the day of the altercation, to which she fired back, “Because I was pregnant … And this girl’s about to f***ing beat my ass. Hello?”
One day prior, she was questioned about her hair on the stand due to how many different looks she wore during trial. “Yesterday, you had black hair, short hair. Today it’s blonde and long,” Ellis’ lawyer, Ron Rosen, inquired on August 26. “Which one is your real hair, or are they both real?”
“They’re wigs,” Cardi clarified with a laugh.
After being cleared of the allegations, Cardi will not have to pay any monetary compensation and the former reality star made it clear she was ready to put the whole ordeal behind her.
“I want to thank my lawyers,” Cardi said during a press conference after concluding her assault trial on Tuesday, September 2, expressing gratitude for her fans, the jurors and “everybody at home supporting me.”
“I’m telling you guys, when I say that my forehead is raw from changing all these wigs,” Cardi also quipped. “Raw, raw, raw, raw.”
