Erin Bates‘ husband, Chad Paine, is continuing to keep their fans in the loop amid her recovery from septic shock.

“Recovery is not fast or easy, but we are deeply thankful for every small step forward. 💕,” read a caption shared via Bates’ Instagram account on Tuesday, September 9. “It has completely broken my heart to watch my Erin walk through such pain, yet to see her lifting her voice in praise to the Lord in the midst of it has been nothing short of inspiring. Her kindness and gratefulness she demonstrates to those taking care of her is nothing short of Christ in her. She has been a light wherever she goes.”

Paine revealed that his wife was “transferred to a new hospital where a team of doctors is working together to help her improve.” He praised the “compassionate” nurses, who “have become like family to us.”

His update concluded, “We miss our babies more than words can say, and we are so grateful for each prayer, message, and act of kindness from those who have reached out during this time. Your love is carrying us. 🤍.”

The post included a video of Bates, 34, in her hospital bed. She and Paine clutched each other’s hands while listening to worship music.

“So scary. So hard. Praying for complete & quick healing!” their friend Jill Duggar wrote in the comments section.

Bates and Paine welcomed their seventh baby, son Henry, on August 25. While announcing the newborn’s arrival, the couple shared via Instagram that Bates experienced “some complications” from her “long and emotional labor.”

Paine later revealed in a separate Instagram post that Bates “developed a severe UTI and kidney infection” after giving birth, leading to septic shock. She remained in the ICU before being transferred to her new hospital.

As fans and family continued to show their support via social media, Paine gave a positive update on his wife’s condition on Saturday, September 6.

“With tears in our eyes, we are praising the Lord that we are on the road to recovery. ❤️‍🩹 Your prayers have definitely touched heaven. 🙏🏻,” he wrote via Instagram.

Along with Henry, the couple share Carson, 10, Brooklyn, 8, Everly, 7, Holland, 5, Finley, 3, and William, 20 months.

Earlier this year, Erin opened up about the challenges that come with raising a large family.

“Motherhood hasn’t been easy,” she admitted in an April vlog. “It’s not for the faint of heart. There are hard days, messy days, days full of questions. But there’s also a deep, soul-filling purpose in it — the kind that makes every moment, every tear, every smile and every prayer worth it. Being a mom is one of the greatest gifts God has given me, and getting to do it alongside my very best friend, that’s more than I could have ever dreamed.”
