Pete Davidson is taking the necessary steps to be fully prepared for fatherhood.
“Hey guys, it’s Pete Davidson, and you have an opportunity to win my K5 Blazer with a LS3 fuel-injected engine,” the comedian, 31, says in Us Weekly’s exclusive clip announcing his partnership with Alltroo. “[I’m] having a kid, so you can’t really drive a kid in a car that sounds like this.”
Davidson then starts the vehicle’s engine, which produces a loud “vroom” noise. The actor revs the Chevrolet Blazer multiple times to show off how noisy it is, which as any parent will tell you is not ideal when you’re caring for a newborn.
As Davidson gears up to part ways with his beloved vehicle, he’s partnering with an organization that’s near and dear to his heart.
“I am working with Answer the Call because it is my favorite charity,” he says in the video. “It’s also the charity that helped my family when my dad passed away.”
Davidson’s father, Scott, was a firefighter who tragically died while responding to the September 11 terrorist attack in New York City in 2001. Answer the Call is a nonprofit organization dedicated to financially assisting and supporting the family members of fallen New York City police officers, firefighters, Port Authority and EMS personnel.
“They just help firemen and New York City police officers [who] lose a person in the line of duty and they help the families,” the Saturday Night Live alum explains. “It’s an easy pick for me.”
Davidson is teaming up with the fundraising platform Alltroo, which was founded by former NFL tight end Kyle Rudolph.
“Working with Alltroo is a no-brainer because it’s simply a $10 donation and anyone can win this truck,” he explains.
In addition to receiving Davidson’s vehicle, the lucky winner will also have the chance to meet the comedian before taking off with his truck. The contest is now open to enter on Alltroo’s website.
Davidson is preparing to welcome his and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt’s first child. In June, the couple announced their exciting news via Instagram.
“Welp now everyone knows we had sex,” Hewitt captioned the post, which included a snap of a sonogram photo.
Two months later, Davidson shared how happy he was to find out he’s going to be a dad.
“I’m stoked. I can’t wait. Let’s go,” Davidson said during an August appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. “I’m so excited. I’ve never been more excited for anything.
That same month, Davidson confessed he felt guilty about Hewitt’s pregnancy getting a lot of attention.
“She’s a very private person and she’s the one doing all the work,” he said on an episode of The Breakfast Club, adding that pregnancy is “supposed to be a beautiful experience” for the mother-to-be. “[She] never made me feel this way or said anything, but I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.”
